Enfermeira (1979) pela Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG). Mestre em Enfermagem (1991) pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
Doutora em Ciências da Saúde (2006) pela Universidade de Brasília. Professora da UFG, lotada na Faculdade de Enfermagem (FEN) em 1983, sendo Professora Titular no período de 2014 a 2021. Foi Coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Enfermagem (PPGENF) da FEN/UFG no período de 2016 a 2020. Aposentada em 02/2021, é Professora voluntária na UFG, exercendo atividades como Docente Permanente e Vice-Coordenadora do PPGENF-FEN/UFG. Orientadora de Mestrado e Doutorado no PPGENF-FEN/UFG, nas linhas de pesquisa "Fundamentação teórica, metodológica e tecnológica para o cuidar em saúde e enfermagem" e "Gestão em saúde e em enfermagem". Membro do Grupo de Estudos Qualitativos em Saúde e Enfermagem (NEQUASE), da Associação Internacional de Letramento em Saúde e da Rede Brasileira de Letramento em Saúde (REBRALS). Trabalha nas áreas de qualidade de vida, letramento em saúde e assistência de enfermagem em emergência e cuidados intensivos.

She was Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Nursing (PPGENF) at FEN/UFG from 2016 to 2020. Retired on 02/2021, she is a volunteer Professor at UFG, exercising activities as Permanent Professor and Vice-Coordinator of PPGENF-FEN/ UFG. Master and Doctoral Advisor at PPGENF-FEN/UFG, in the research lines "Theoretical, methodological and technological foundation for care in health and nursing" and "Management in health and nursing". Member of the Group for Qualitative Studies in Health and Nursing (NEQUASE), the International Association of Health Literacy and the Brazilian Network of Health Literacy (REBRALS). She works in the areas of quality of life, health literacy, and emergency and critical care nursing care.
