José Alexandrino de Souza Filho

Graduado em Letras (Francês) pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (1987), mestre em literatura francesa pela Universidade de São Paulo (1993), com a dissertação O Riso e o Grotesco na Obra de Charles Baudelaire, doutor em literatura francesa e comparada pela Universidade Michel de Montaigne-Bordeaux 3 (2003), com a tese Civilisation et barbarie en France au temps de Montaigne, pós-doutor pela Universidade de Rouen (2013) e pela Brown University (2019), idealizador e curador do Projeto "Livraria" de Montaigne, exposição que consiste na réplica da torre e da biblioteca do autor dos Ensaios, autor de livro homônimo (João Pessoa: Editora UFPB, 2007), idealizador e coordenador do Colóquio Montaigne e seu Tempo, primeiro evento científico brasileiro dedicado ao escritor e filósofo francês, no âmbito do Ano da França no Brasil (2009), organizador de livro homônimo (João Pessoa: Editora UFPB, 2012), idealizador e curador da exposição Sob os paralelepípedos, a praia: o poético e o político em Maio de 68 na França (2008 e 2018), finalista do Prêmio Odebrecht de Pesquisa Histórica "Clarival do Prado Valladares" (2014-2015), com trabalho sobre a presença de cosmógrafos, cartógrafos e pilotos franceses no Nordeste brasileiro na segunda metade do século XVI, José Alexandrino de Souza Filho é professor de literatura e língua francesas, bem como de estudos literários, na Universidade Federal da Paraíba, desde 1993.

Graduated in Letters (French) from the Federal University of Bahia (1987), Master in French Literature from the University of São Paulo (1993), with the dissertation The Laughter and the Grotesque in the Work of Charles Baudelaire, PhD in French and Comparative Literature from the University Michel de Montaigne-Bordeaux 3 (2003), with the thesis Civilization and Barbarismo in France in the time of Montaigne, postdoctoral fellow at the University of Rouen (2013) and Brown University (2019), creator and curator of the Montaigne's Library Project, an exhibition consisting of a replica of the tower and library of the author of the Essays, author of the homonymous book (João Pessoa: Editora UFPB, 2007), creator and coordinator of the Symposium on Montaigne and his Time, the first Brazilian scientific event dedicated to the writer and philosopher French, within the scope of the Year of France in Brazil (2009), organizer of the homonymous book (João Pessoa: Editora UFPB, 2012), creator and curator of the exhibition Under the parallelepipeds, the beach: the poetic and the political in May 68 at France (2008 and 2018), finalist for the Odebrecht Historical Research Prize "Clarival do Prado Valladares" (2014-2015), with work on the presence of French cosmographers, cartographers and pilots in Northeastern Brazil in the second half of the 16th century, José Alexandrino de Souza Filho has been a professor of French literature and language, as well as literary studies, at the Federal University of Paraíba since 1993.
