Guilherme Ariel Machado Martins

I have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), and I obtained my Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Organic Chemistry from the same university, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Claudio Silveira. In 2017, I participated in an academic exchange program at Cardiff University in the United Kingdom, supervised by Prof. Dr. Thomas Wirth. During this period, my research focus was on Flow Electrochemistry and Cuba. In 2019, I had the opportunity to conduct a postdoctoral research at Saarland University, located in Saarbrücken, Germany. I worked in the group led by Prof. Dr. Claus Jacob, within the Department of Pharmacy, where I concentrated my research efforts on the synthesis of nature-inspired reactive selenium species (RSeS). Additionally, I also completed a postdoctoral research at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), in Florianópolis, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Antonio L. Braga. During this period, I focused on advanced research in electrosynthesis.Currently, my research is primarily focused on the synthesis of photosensitizers for applications in PDT and photodiagnostics, as well as the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (IFAs) utilizing Continuous Flow and Electrosynthesis technologies. I collaborate with the research groups led by Prof. Dr. Kleber T. de Oliveira (UFSCar) and Prof. Dr. Vanderlei Bognato (USP) in these endeavors. Furthermore, I also contribute to electrosynthesis research in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Nisar Ahmed from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom, and Prof. Dr. Samuel R. Mendes from the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC) in Joinville, SC.

Sou graduado em Química pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) e obtive meu Mestrado e Doutorado em Química Orgânica na mesma universidade, sob a orientação do Prof. Dr. Claudio Silveira. Em 2017, realizei um intercâmbio acadêmico na Cardiff University, no Reino Unido, sob a supervisão do Prof. Dr. Thomas Wirth. Durante esse período, meu foco de pesquisa foi a Eletrossíntese em Fluxo e Cuba. No ano de 2019, tive a oportunidade de realizar um pós-doutorado na Alemanha, na Universität des Saarlandes, em Saarbrüecken. Trabalhei no grupo do Prof. Dr. Claus Jacob, no Departamento de Farmácia, onde concentrei minhas pesquisas na síntese de espécies reativas de selênio (RSeS) inspiradas na natureza. Realizei um pós-doutorado na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), em Florianópolis, sob a orientação do Prof. Dr. Antonio L. Braga. Durante esse período, concentrei-me em pesquisas avançadas em eletrossíntese. Atualmente, desenvolvo pesquisas voltadas na síntese de fotossensibilizadores para aplicações em PDT e fotodiagnósticos e também a síntese de ingredientes farmacêuticos ativos (IFAs) utilizando a tecnologia de Fluxo Contínuo e Eletrossíntese junto aos grupos dos professores Dr. Kleber T. de Oliveira (UFSCar) e Dr. Vanderlei Bognato (USP). Por fim, colaboro em pesquisas voltadas a Eletrossíntese junto ao Prof. Dr. Nisar Ahmed, da Cardiff University, no Reino Unido e com o Prof Dr. Samuel R. Mendes da Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina - UDESC, Joinville - SC.
