Jennifer Viezzer

I have been an environmental analyst at the Department of Ecosystems of the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment since July 2014, mainly working in the Biodiversity and Climate Change in the Atlantic Forest and the Amazon Sustainable Landscapes projects, in the National Policy and Plan for the Recovery of Native Vegetation (PROVEG/PLANAVEG) , in the Sector Strategy for Biodiversity and Ecosystems of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PNA), and in the National Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity (EPANB). I am a Forest Engineer graduated from UFPR (2011), I did a sandwich period in Forestry at North Carolina State University (NCSU, 2010), and I am a Master and Doctor in Forest Engineering also from UFPR (2014, 2022). I have experience in project management and execution, in institutional articulation, in capacity development strategies, and in scientific research. I have knowledge about climate change, vulnerability and risk analysis, Ecosystem-based Adaptation to climate change (EbA), Nature-based Solutions (SbN), ecosystem services, urban forests, riparian preservation areas, biodiversity conservation and native vegetation restoration, and territorial planning instruments and public policies for the Atlantic and the Amazon Forests.

Sou analista ambiental do Departamento de Florestas do Ministério do Meio Ambiente desde julho de 2014, atuando principalmente nos Projetos Biodiversidade e Mudanças Climáticas na Mata Atlântica e Paisagens Sustentáveis da Amazônia, na Política e no Plano Nacional de Recuperação da Vegetação Nativa (PROVEG/PLANAVEG), na Estratégia e Plano de Ação Nacionais para a Biodiversidade (EPANB), nas Áreas Prioritárias para a Conservação da Biodiversidade da Mata Atlântica, e na Estratégia Setorial de Biodiversidade e Ecossistemas do Plano Nacional de Adaptação à Mudança do Clima (PNA). Sou Engenheira Florestal formada pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR, 2011), fiz período sanduíche em Forestry na North Carolina State University (NCSU, 2010), e sou Mestre e Doutora em Engenharia Florestal também pela UFPR (2014, 2022). Tenho experiência em gestão e execução de projetos, em articulação institucional e construção participativa, em estratégias de desenvolvimento de capacidades, e em pesquisa científica. Tenho conhecimento sobre mudança do clima, análise de vulnerabilidade e risco, adaptação à mudança do clima baseada em Ecossistemas (AbE), Soluções baseadas na Natureza (SbN), áreas de preservação permanente (APP), florestas urbanas, serviços ecossistêmicos, conservação da biodiversidade e recuperação da vegetação nativa, e instrumentos de ordenamento territorial e políticas públicas para a Mata Atlântica e para a Amazônia.
