Fabio Pittella Silva

Coordenador do Laboratório de Patologia Molecular do Câncer da Universidade de Brasília. Doutor em Patologia Molecular pelo Centro de Genoma Humano do Instituto de Ciências Medicas da Universidade de Tóquio (2008), Mestre em Ciências Médicas pela Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Tóquio (2004) e graduado em Farmácia e Bioquímica (Análises Clínicas) pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (2001). No Centro de Genoma Humano da Universidade de Tóquio, identificou e descreveu os genes WDRPUH, TIPUH1 e SMYD3, a primeira metiltrasnferase envolvida na carcinogênese humana. É professor da Universidade de Brasília FS/UnB (desde 2008), orientador de mestrado, doutorado e pós-doutorado. Pesquisador associado em biópisia líquida no Cancer Precision Medicine Center da Fundação Japonsesa de Pesquisa sobre o Câncer (JFCR) em Toquio, Japão (desde 2018). Foi professor visitante do Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center em Nova York, EUA (2014 a 2018) onde atuou no desenvolvimento de inibidores para metiltrasnferases. Tem experiência na área de genética molecular, com ênfase nas áreas de bioquímica e patologia molecular atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: epigenética, metilransferases proteicas, biópsia líquida e alvos moleculares para o diagnóstico/tratamento do câncer. PhD in Molecular Pathology from the Human Genome Center of the Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Tokyo (2008), Master in Medical Sciences from the University of Tokyo School of Medicine (2004) and graduated in Pharmacy and Biochemistry (Clinical Analysis) at the Federal University from Juiz de Fora (2001). At the Human Genome Center of the University of Tokyo, I identified and described the genes WDRPUH, TIPUH1 and SMYD3, the first methyltransferase involved in human carcinogenesis. I am currently, a professor at the University of Brasília FS/UnB (since 2008), supervisor of master's, doctoral and postdoctoral studies. I am Research Associate in Liquid Biopsy at the Cancer Precision Medicine Center of the Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research (JFCR) in Tokyo, Japan (since 2018). I was a visiting professor at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, USA (2014 to 2018) where I worked on the development of inhibitors for methyltransferases. I have experience in the field of molecular genetics, with an emphasis on biochemistry and molecular pathology, working mainly on the following topics: epigenetics, protein methyltransferases, liquid biopsy and molecular targets for the diagnosis/treatment of cancer.
