Cicero Roberto Pereira obtained a BA in Psychology and a Master?s degree in Social Psychology at the Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB - 2000). He concluded in 2007 his PhD in Experimental Social Psychology at the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL) with a thesis on the relationship between prejudice and discrimination in anti-prejudice contexts. His postdoctoral research was funded by a grant from the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT - 2008) to develop the Justified Discrimination Model. From 2009 to 2015 he was a research fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon (ICS-UL) and since 2015 he is a Senior Professor of Social Psychology at the Federal University of Paraíba and an Associated Researcher at the ICS-UL. In 2018 he received the habilitation for scientific coordination in Social Psychology. Since 2016 he has been awarded by the Brazilian National Council with Research Productivity Distinctions (PQ1D) for his Scientific and Technological contribution for the Development of Social Psychological. His studies analyse how and in which conditions social actors in contemporary democratic societies legitimise their attitudes and actions supporting prejudiced and discriminatory policies against minority groups. He has published his research findings in several journal papers, such as Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and European Journal of Social Psychology.
