Graduada em História pela Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (1988), mestre em História Social pela Universidade de São Paulo (1994) e doutora em História Econômica, com ênfase em patrimônio cultural, pela Universidade de São Paulo (2001). Especialista em restauração pelo Centro de Conservação e Restauração-CECOR (1992) e em conservação de coleções pelo Getty Conservation Institute-GCI (1995). Especialista em Arte e Cultura Barroca pelo IAC-UFOP (1992). Atualmente, professora titular da Escola de Belas Artes da UFMG, atuando junto aos cursos de graduação em Artes Visuais e em Conservação-Restauração. Professora permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes da Escola de Belas Artes da UFMG e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ambiente Construído e Patrimônio Sustentável da Faculdade de Arquitetura da UFMG, tendo atuado como coordenadora entre 2018-2020. Sou consultora e pesquisadora nas áreas de História da Arte, História das Coleções e Conservação Preventiva; sou pesquisadora do LACICOR (Laboratório de Ciências da Conservação) e coordeno o grupo de pesquisa ArCHE (Ambientes - Arte, Conservação e História). Entre 2015 e 2016, fui bolsista de pós-doutorado sênior com pesquisa junto ao ICCROM.
Yacy Ara Froner holds a degree in History by the Federal University of Ouro Preto (1988), a master's degree in Social History by the University of São Paulo (1994) and a Ph.D. in Economic History, with emphasis on cultural heritage, from the University of São Paulo (2001). She specializes in restoration by CECOR (1992) and conservation of collections by the Getty Conservation Institute (1995). She is also an expert in Baroque Art and Culture by IAC-UFOP (1992). She is currently a titular professor at the School of Fine Arts at UFMG, working on the Visual Arts Undergraduate Course and Conservation-Restoration Undergraduate Course. She is a professor of the Graduate Program in Arts of the School of Fine Arts of UFMG, and coordinator of the Graduate Program in Built Environment and Sustainable Heritage of the Faculty of Architecture of UFMG (2018-2020). She is a consultant and researcher in the areas of Art History, History of Collections, and Preventive Conservation. She is a researcher at LACICOR (Laboratory of Conservation Sciences) and coordinates the research group ArCHE (Art, Conservation and History-Environment).
