Donald Rolfe Sawyer

Ph.D. in Sociology, Harvard University, 1979. Post-doctoral positions at the University of Florida and Yale University. From 1981 to 1991, Full Professor at the Center for Regional Planning and Development (CEDEPLAR), Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Since 1991, various positions at the Institute for Society, Population and Nature (ISPN) in Brasília. From 2006 to 2013, professor at the Center for Sustainable Development (CDS), University of Brasília (UnB). In 2011-2012, Visiting Scholar at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS) at Harvard University. Carries out research on population, environment and sustainable development, especially in the Amazon and Cerrado.

Possui Ph.D. em Sociologia de Harvard University (1979). Pós-doutorados na University of Florida e na Yale University. De 1981 a 1991, foi Professor Titular do Centro de Desenvolvimento e Planejamento Regional (CEDEPLAR) da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). A partir de 1991, ocupou cargos no Instituto Sociedade, População e Natureza (ISPN) em Brasília. De 2006 a 2013 foi Professor Adjunto do Centro de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (CDS) da Universidade de Brasília (UnB). Em 2011-2012, foi Visiting Scholar no David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS) da Universidade de Harvard. Realiza pesquisa sobre população, meio ambiente e desenvolvimento sustentável, especialmente na Amazônia e no Cerrado.
