Marinus Steven Hoogmoed

Graduated in Biologiy at Leiden University (1963), master's in Biologia from Leiden University, Holland (1966) and Ph.D. in Matemathics and Natural Sciences (Biology and taxonomy) from Leiden University (1973). From 1966-2004 he was curator of reptiles and amphibians of the National Museum of Natural History, Leiden, the Netherlands, and from 1990-2001 he was also chief of the Vertebrate section. From 1975-2003 he was a member of the Dutch Scientific Authority for CITES, from 1990-2003 as Vice-President. From 1994-2002 he was elected European representative on the CITES Animals Committee and between 2000 and 2002 he was Chair of that committee. Associated editor and scientific reviewer for many international journals.Since 2004 he is guest researcher in the Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi, Belém, Pará, Brasil. Works in herpetology (Amphibians and Reptiles) with emphasis on Amphibians acting in the following fields: herpetofauna, taxonomy, zoogeography, inventories, distribution, Suriname, Guiana Shield and Amazonia.

Possui graduação em Biologia - Leiden University (1963), mestrado em Biologia - Leiden University, Holanda (1966) e doutorado em Matemática e Ciências Naturais (especialidade Biologia e Taxonomia) - Leiden University (1973). De 1966-2004 ele foi curador de reptéis e anfibios do Museu Nacional de Historia Natural de Leiden, Holanda. De 1990-2001 tambem foi chefe da seção de Vertebrados. De 1975 -2003 foi membro da Autoridade Ciêntifica de CITES da Holanda, de 1990-2003 como Vice-Presidente. De 1994 -2002 foi representante europeia eleito do Animals Committee de CITES e de 2000-2002 foi Presidente do Animals Committee. Desde 2004 é pesquisador colaborador do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, Belém, PA, Brasil, editor associado e revisor cientifica de varios revistas internacionais. Trabalho na área de Herpetologia (Anfibios e Répteis), com ênfase em Anfibios, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: herpetofauna, taxonomia, zoogeografia, inventarios, distribuição, Suriname, Escudo Guianense e Amazônia.
