Lauro Santos Filho

O Prof. Lauro Santos Filho é Farmacêutico-Bioquímico Graduado pela UFPB, possui Mestrado em Microbiologia pela UFMG (1980), Doutorado em Microbiologia pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1995), e Pós Doutorado no Center of Anti-Infective and Research Development / Hartford Hospital - Connecticut/USA (2006). Cumpriu estágio de visita técnica no Departamento de Microbiologia Clínica do Mount Sinai Hospital em Toronto/Canadá e no Hartford Hospital, em Connecticut/EUA na área de Microbiologia Clínica e Farmacodinâmica de Drogas Antimicrobianas. Atualmente é Professor Titular na Disciplina Microbiologia Clínica do Departamento de Ciências Farmacêuticas/UFPB, exerce as funções de Presidente do Conselho Curador da UFPB, Vice-Coordenador do Núcleo de Medicina Tropical/UFPB e Assessor de Internacionalização da ACI/UFPB como representante do CCS. Desempenha atividades científicas de Pesquisa e Projetos na área de Microbiologia Clínica Humana e Veterinária, Controle de Infecções Relacionadas ao Atendimento em Saúde (IRAS) e Contaminação Ambiental, com ênfase em Resistência Bacteriana. No m omento, mantém intercâmbio de visitas e trabalhos colaborativos com o Infectious Diseases Molecular Epidemiology Laboratory (IDMEL), da Ohio State University/EUA, onde também participa ativamente do "Global Health Initiative (GOHi/OSU). Mais recentemente vem desenvolvendo estudos e pesquisas no campo de "One Health", envolvendo microbiologia ambiental e microbiologia veterinária no aspecto ligado à detecção e transferência de gens de resistência.

Prof. Lauro Santos Filho is a Pharmacist-Biochemical Graduated from UFPB, holds a Master's degree in Microbiology from UFMG (1980), a PhD in Microbiology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1995), and a Post-Doctorate from the Center of Anti-Infective and Research Development / Hartford Hospital - Connecticut/USA (2006). He completed a technical internship at the Department of Clinical Microbiology at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto/Canada and Hartford Hospital in Connecticut/USA in the area of Clinical Microbiology and Pharmacodynamics of Antimicrobial Drugs. He is currently Full Professor in the Discipline Clinical Microbiology of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences / UFPB, serves as President of the Board of Trustees of UFPB, Vice-Coordinator of the Center for Tropical Medicine / UFPB and Advisor of Internationalization of ACI / UFPB as representative of CCS. He carries out scientific activities of Research and Projects in the area of Human and Veterinary Clinical Microbiology, Infection Control Related to Health Care (IRAS) and Environmental Contamination, with emphasis on Bacterial Resistance. In the course, it maintains an exchange of visits and collaborative work with the Infectious Diseases Molecular Epidemiology Laboratory (IDMEL) of Ohio State University/USA, where it also actively participates in the "Global Health Initiative (GOHi/OSU). More recently, he has been developing studies and research in the field of "One Health", involving environmental microbiology and veterinary microbiology in the aspect related to the detection and transfer of resistance gens.
