I have a degree in Physics from the Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) Venezuela (2007), with a PhD in Physics of Condensed Matter from ULA Venezuela (2014). I am currently a teacher and researcher (Aggregate Professor) at the ULA Venezuela. My research experience has focused on the synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles. I have synthesized nanoparticles of metal oxides (mainly ferrites and chromites) by various chemical methods such as: coprecipitation, sol-gel, autocombustion and thermal decomposition of organic precursors. Regarding the characterization of materials, I have experience studying physical and chemical properties of nanoparticulate materials with the following techniques: X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Electron Diffraction, Electron Microscopy (TEM and SEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Vibrating Sample Magnetometry (VSM), SQUID Magnetometry, and AC Susceptometry. In addition, I have carried out power absorption studies from self-heating experiments under the application of alternating magnetic fields, in order to determine the efficiency of nanoparticles as heating agents for magnetic hyperthermia.
