Ricardo Vedovello

Geologist graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ (1989), master in Remote Sensing from the National Institute of Space Research - INPE (1993) and PhD in Geosciences and Environment from the State University of São Paulo Júlio de Mesquita Filho - UNESP (2000). He is currently a Level VI Scientific Researcher at the Center for Geosciences, Risk Management and Environmental Monitoring, of the Institute of Environmental Research (formerly the Center for Engineering and Environmental Geology of the Geological Institute - IG) of the Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics of the State of São Paulo. It acts on the following topics: geotechnical and geoenvironmental mapping, prevention of natural disasters and geological risks, remote sensing, geoinformation, environmental management, and territorial planning. Previously he held in the IG the functions of: Coordinator of the Geotechnics and Environment Program (1994-2000); Head of the Applied and Environmental Geology Section (1995-2000); Director of the Division of Geology (2000-2007); and the Director-General (2007-2016).

Geológo formado pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ (1989), mestre em Sensoriamento Remoto pelo Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais - INPE (1993) e doutor em Geociências e Meio Ambiente pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho - UNESP (2000). Atualmente é Pesquisador Científico Nível VI do Núcleo de Geociências, Gestão de Riscos e Monitoramento Ambiental, do Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais (anteriormente Núcleo de Geologia de Engenharia e Ambiental do Instituto Geológico - IG) da Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, Infraestrutura e Logística do Estado de São Paulo. Atua nos seguintes temas: cartografia geotecnica e geoambiental, prevenção de desastres naturais e riscos geológicos, sensoriamento remoto, geoinformação, gestão ambiental, e planejamento e ordenamento territorial. Anteriormente exerceu no IG as funções de: Coordenador do Programa de Geotecnia e Meio Ambiente (1994-2000); Chefe da Seção de Geologia Aplicada e Ambiental (1995-2000); Diretor da Divisão de Geologia (2000-2007); e Diretor Geral (2007-2016).
