Concluiu Doutorado em Ciências pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo em 2003 e Mestrado em Educação e Saúde pela Maastricht University, Holanda em 2000. A graduação foi em Fisioterapia pela Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL) em julho de 1991. Iniciou como docente na UEL em março de 1993 e atualmente é Professor Associado C. Atua na área de Epidemiologia-Bioestatística, Biomecânica e Fisioterapia Aquática. Orientou 24 dissertações de mestrado, 11 teses de doutorado, orientou e co-orientou um estágio Pós-Doutorado, além de ter orientado vários alunos de IC, TCC e de Especialização. Orienta alunos de mestrado e doutorado no Programa Associado em Educação Física UEL/UEM. É líder do grupo de pesquisa "Avaliação e Intervenção em Fisioterapia", revisor da Colaboração Cochrane, revisor de periódicos nacionais e internacionais e ministra cursos de Fisioterapia Aquática e Bioestatística. Foi membro e coordenador do Comitê da Área da Saúde no PROIC (2006-2012) e foi membro do Comitê Assessor da Área da Saúde da Fundação Araucária (2008-2015). Fez parte da Comissão Científica do XVII Congresso Mundial de Fisioterapia (2015), em Cingapura, como representante da América do Sul. Em 2014 foi Visiting Researcher da Fulbright/CAPES no Dept. of Physical Therapy, Movement, and Rehabilitation Sciences da Northeastern University, Boston, EUA e em 2014-15 Visiting Researcher do CNPq na University of Central Lancashire (UCLAn) em Preston, Reino Unido. Atualmente é coordenador do PPG Associado em Ciências da Reabilitação UEL-Unopar. Dr. Cardoso has been a full Professor at the Dep. of Physical Therapy of the Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL), Brazil, since March 3rd 1993. His BSc was in Physical Therapy at the same University (87-91). His MSc in Health Professional Education was at the Maastricht University, Netherlands in 2000 and he finalized a PhD in Health Sciences at the Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Brazil, in 2003. In 2014, he was CAPES/Fulbright Visiting Researcher at the Northeastern University, Boston, MA as well as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, UK, from November 2014 to April 2015. He has been teaching Epidemiology/Biostatistics and Biomechanics in the MSc/PhD program in Physical Education at UEL and has concluded 24 MSc and 11 PhD supervisions. He is the leader of the Research Group in Physical Therapy Assessment and Intervention (PAIFIT) and his activities are concentrated in the Laboratory of Biomechanics and Clinical Epidemiology. He is also involved in research activities focusing on biomechanics, advanced biostatistics (using SPSS, MedCalc, Statistica and Revman software for sistematic review). Prof. Cardoso has worked as a co-editor and peer reviewer for about 15 international journals. He is also engaged in the Cochrane Collaboration as a reviewer and has a productivity scholarship (1D stage) from CNPq (Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). Dr. Cardoso and his Research Group co-operate with several Universities: Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, Netherlands, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA, Aachen University, Aaechen, Germany, Università degli Studi di Milano, Milano, and Ulster University, Belfast, North Ireland, He was a member of the International Scientific Committee of the 17th World Confederation for Physical Therapy, in Singapore (representing the South American region) - May 1st-4th 2015. Hes currently coordinator of the Associate Graduate Program in Rehabilitation Sciences UEL-Unopar.
