Benedito Pinto Ferreira Braga Junior

Possui graduação em Engenharia Civil - EESC-USP (1972), mestrado em Hidrologia - Stanford University (1977), mestrado em Hidráulica pela EPUSP (1976) e doutorado em Recursos Hídricos - Stanford University (1979). Fez parte Diretoria Colegiada da Agencia Nacional de Águas ANA em Brasília desde sua criação até 2009. Foi presidente da International Water Resources Association IWRA de 1998-2000 e atualmente é Vice-Presidente do World Water Council WWC, responsável pelos Foruns Mundiais da Água de Haia, Kyoto, México e Istambul. Atualmente é Presidente do International Forum Committee responsável pela realização do 6º Forum Mundial da Água em Marselha, França. Ocupou o cargo de Presidente do Conselho Intergovernamental do Programa Hidrológico Internacional da UNESCO 2009-2010. Em 2002 recebeu em Madrid o Crystal Drop Award da IWRA em reconhecimento à sua contribuição à gestão de recursos hídricos em nível mundial. Em 2009 foi condecorado com a ordem do mérito de Tiradentes pelo Governo de Minas Gerais e recebeu o título de membro honorário da American Water Resources Associaion em Seattle, EUA. Prof. Braga desenvolve trabalhos técnico-científicos na área de planejamento e gestão de recursos hídricos com ênfase na resolução de conflitos com múltiplos objetivos.

Prof. Benedito Braga holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University, USA in water resources. He is a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Sao Paulo, Brazil and has served in the board of Directors of the Brazilian National Water Agency ANA from 2001 - 2009. He was President of the International Water Resources Association from 1998-2000 and presently is Vice-President of the World Water Council and President of the International Committee of the 6th World Water Forum Marseille 2012. Prof. Braga is an active researcher in the field of conflict resolution and multiobjective water resources decision making processes with stakeholder participation. He has participated in several international committees promoting the concept of integrated water resources management. He is the author of more than 200 articles and 25 books and chapters of books on the subject of water management at international level. Prof. Braga is recipient of the 2002 Crystal Drop Award, given by the International Water Resources Association IWRA in recognition for his life time achievements in the area of water resources management. In 2009 he received the honorary membership from the American Water Resources Association for his eminence in water resources.
