Bruno Solano de Freitas Souza

I hold a medical degree from the Federal University of Bahia (2009), a master's degree in Health and Investigative Medicine Biotechnology from Fiocruz (2012), and a PhD in Human Pathology from the Federal University of Bahia (2016). Additionally, I earned an MBA in health management from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (2017). During my career, I worked as a visiting researcher at the Neuroimmunology Laboratory of the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy (2010-2011) and at the Innovative Genomics Institute, University of California, Berkeley (2023). Currently, I am a researcher in Public Health at the Gonçalo Moniz Institute (Fiocruz-BA) and the D'Or Institute for Research and Education (IDOR). I also serve as the coordinating physician and technical director of the Center for Biotechnology and Cell Therapy at São Rafael Hospital. My involvement in the field includes serving in the management of the Brazilian Association of Cell Therapy as the 1st Secretary (2018-2021) and as the Treasurer (2022-2023). I am honored to be recognized as a level 2 productivity scholarship holder from CNPq. My primary focus lies in clinical and translational research projects, particularly in areas such as cellular therapy, regenerative medicine, gene editing, CRISPR/Cas9, and biomarker studies.

Possui graduação em medicina pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (2009), mestrado em Biotecnologia em Saúde e Medicina Investigativa pela Fiocruz (2012) e doutorado em Patologia Humana pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (2016). Possui MBA na área de gestão em saúde pela Fundação Getúlio Vargas (2017). Atuou como pesquisador visitante no Laboratório de Neuroimunologia do San Raffaele Scientific Institute em Milão, Itália (2010-2011) e no Innovative Genomics Institute, Universidade da Califórnia em Berkeley (2023). É pesquisador em Saúde Pública no Instituto Gonçalo Moniz (Fiocruz-BA) e no Instituto D'Or de Pesquisa e Ensino (IDOR), médico coordenador e responsável técnico do Centro de Biotecnologia e Terapia Celular do Hospital São Rafael. Fez parte da gestão da Associação Brasileira de Terapia Celular, como 1o secretário (2018-2021) e como tesoureiro (2022-2023). Bolsista de produtividade nível 2 do CNPq. Atua em projetos de pesquisa clínica e translacional com foco principal nas áreas de terapia celular, medicina regenerativa, edição gênica, CRISPR/Cas9 e estudos de biomarcadores.
