IEEE and ACM member for more than 20 years. Reviewer for Bioinformatics (Oxford). Recipient of research productivity scholarship from CNPq for 9 years and grants from CNPq and FAPESP. Research interests are in the application of Web Technologies, in special Semantic Web ones, in Biomedical and Bioinformatics problems to allow data interpretation by machines. Recently collaborating with BMIR-Stanford University in semantic annotation of medical images and with INPA (Amazon National Research Institute)/Embrapa in annotation and semantic search of biodiversity data. Have more than 20 years experience in software research and development: Web based distributed and client/server applications, including technologies such as Web services, ontologies (Semantic Web OWL), C, C++, Clojure, Groovy and Java languages on Linux, Mac and Windows. Minhas pesquisas focam na aplicação de tecnologias Web, em especial as da Web Semântica, em problemas da área Biomédica e de Bioinformática para permitir a interpretação de dados biomédicos por máquinas. Recentemente tenho colaborado com o BMIR-Stanford University com anotações semântica de imagens médicas e com o INPA/Embrapa na anotação e busca semântica de dados sobre biodiversidade. Tenho experiência de mais de 20 anos em pesquisa em computação e engenharia: aplicações distribuídas cliente/servidor e Web, incluindo tecnologias como Web services, ontologias (Semantic Web OWL) e as linguagens C, C++, Clojure e Java em Linux, Windows e Mac.
