João is graduated in Animal Science from the Federal Rural University of Semi-Arid (2009), Master's and Doctorate from the same institution, with emphasis on Applied Animal Biometeorology. He is a researcher at the Laboratory of Behavioral Ecology and Laboratory of Biometeorology and Environmental Biophysics of the same University, working mainly in studies involving physical and physiological factors acting on the animal thermoregulation (ruminants, poultry, and stingless bees). He also studies strategies to attenuate heat stress in production animals. João is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Animal Behaviour and Biometeorology and Multidisciplinary Reviews and is part of editorial boards at three other international journals. He is also a reviewer for several international journals, such as the Journal of Thermal Biology, International Journal of Biometeorology, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, Physiology & Behavior, among others.
