prof. Dr. Edson da Costa Bortoni

President of University of Itajubá (UNIFEI), Brazil, and a Full Professor. He received an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Itajubá (UNIFEI), Itajubá, Brazil, in 1990; an M.Sc. degree in energy systems planning from the University of Campinas, Campinas, Brazil in 1993; a D.Sc. Degree in power systems from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (USP), São Paulo, Brazil, in 1998; and the Habilitation from USP, São Carlos, Brazil, in 2012. He was a Visiting Scholar in the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland (2015), and in Politecnico di Torino, Italy (2019). Presently Dr. Bortoni is a Full Professor and Scientific Coordinator of the CH2V, the green hydrogen center at UNIFEI. He is a Subject Editor of IET GTD Journal, an Assistant Editor of the Flow Measurement and Instrumentation Journal, and an Assistant Editor of IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion Journal. He is a member of the IEEE Nikola Tesla Award is a Technical Field Award committee, the Secretary of the IEEE PES Electric Machinery Committee and former chair of the Generator subcommittee. He is the recipient of the ISA Power Industry Division Achievement Award (2018), the Hydropower Foundation Educator of the Year Award (2019), and recognized as a Distinguished Lecturer from the IEEE Power and Energy Society. Dr. Bortoni has almost 400 published books, chapters, and papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. His research interests include designing electrical machines, testing, modeling, power generation, energy systems design, sensors, and smart grids. Dr. Bortoni is the Principal Scientist of the EXCEN, the Energy Efficiency Excellence Center, president of the Brazilian Society of Energy Planning, a Fellow Member of the International Hydropower Association, a Fellow Member of the International Society of Automation, and a Senior Member of IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Deputy member of the National Council of Science and Technology (CCT/MCTI), deputy member of the National Program of Hydrogen (PNH2/MME).

ATUALMENTE É Membro do comitê do IEEE Nikola Tesla Award, Secretário do Comitê de Máquinas Elétricas do IEEE. Membro Sênior do IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers). Membro Fellow da ISA (International Society of Automation). Membro Fellow da IHA (International Hydropower Association). Membro ativo de grupos de trabalho do IEEE, ISA e CIGRÉ. Assistent Editor (AE) do IEEE Transaction on Energy Conversion, Subject Editor do IET (Generation, Transmission, and Distribution), e Editor Assistente do Flow Measurement and Instrumentation Journal. Revisor de vários periódicos qualificados do IEEE, IET, e Elsevier. Consultor do Programa de Desenvolvimento das Nações Unidas (PNUD) e de várias empresas nacionais e internacionais. Cinco livros publicados, nove capítulos em outros livros, duas patentes obtidas, e quase de 400 artigos técnicos publicados em congressos e em periódicos nacionais e internacionais. Suas linhas de pesquisa se concentram principalmente em instrumentação, eficiência energética em sistemas motrizes, otimização de sistemas energéticos, projetos e testes, modelagem de máquinas elétricas e de sistemas de geração de energia. Recebeu os prêmios ISA Power Industry Division Achievement Award em 2018, o Hydropower Foundation Educator of the Year em 2019, e o reconhecimento do IEEE/PES como Distinguished Lecturer em 2019. Membro do Conselho Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia (CCT/MCTI), membro do Comitê Gestor do Programa Nacional do Hidrogênio (Coges/PNH2).
