Andréia Escosteguy Vargas

Andreia Escosteguy Vargas got her MSc degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2003 and since then has been working on her PhD thesis on the same subject. She spent 6 months at the Hadassah University Hospital under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Eitan Fibach during her PhD studies. She has experience in the fields of Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Immunogenetics, having worked more specifically on the following subjects: sickle cell disease, polymorphisms in chemokine receptors, eNOS, HMOX and adhesion molecules, differentiation of erythroid cells, differential gene expression and cell culture.

Possui bacharelado em Ciências Biológicas - ênfase: Genética (UFRGS, 1997), especialização em Biologia Molecular (ULBRA, 1999), mestrado (UFRGS, 2005) e doutorado em Genética e Biologia Molecular - Imunogenética (UFRGS, 2009), com estágio-sanduíche sob orientação do Prof. Dr. Eitan Fibach no Hadassah University Hospital - Ein Kerem (Jerusalém, Israel). Fez pós-doutorado no Instituto de Cardiologia/Fundação Universitária de Cardiologia (IC/FUC-RS) e no Laboratório de Imunologia da UFCSPA (PNPD Institucional/CAPES). Lecionou as disciplinas de Genética Humana (professora substituta - UFCSPA) e Imunologia (professora colaboradora - UFCSPA).Tem experiência nas áreas de Imunologia, Imunogenética, Biologia Molecular e Biologia Celular. Atualmente, é Visiting Researcher no Diabetes Research Group, Division of Diabetes & Nutritional Sciences, King's College London (Londres, Reino Unido).
