Thomas Meredith Brown

Possui doutorado em PhD in Physics - University of Cambridge (2001). Atualmente é professore associato - Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Elétrica, com ênfase em Engenharia Elétrica
Thomas M. Brown graduated in Physics from the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1996 with 110/110 cum laude after completing a thesis on amorphous silicon heterojunctions of interest for photovoltaic devices. He investigated polysilicon TFTs as a research assistant at Cambridge University Engineering Department in cooperation with Seiko Epson Corp. from 1996 to 1997. He completed a PhD on polymer organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) in the Optoelectronics Group led by Prof. Sir Richard Friend at the Cavendish Laboratory of Cambridge University, collaborating also with Cambridge Display Technology Ltd. In 2001, in its first year of existence, he joined Plastic Logic Ltd, a hi-tech company spun-off from the Cavendish Laboratory where as Senior Engineer he developed printed plastic electronics (OTFTs) and E-Paper for 4 years. In 2005 he was the recipient of a ?Re-entry of Brains? Fellowship awarded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research to carry out research on solution-processed photovoltaics within the Department of Electronic Engineering, University of Rome ?Tor Vergata?. In 2006 he co-founded the Centre for Hybrid and Organic Solar Energy (CHOSE) financed by the Lazio Region to research and develop organic and hybrid dye solar cells technology. In November 2007 he became Associate Professor in the same University. He is responsible for ?Organic and Biological Electronics?, ?Innovative Photovoltaic Technologies? and ??Scientific Writing? lecture courses. He has given 30 invited talks between scientific conferences and academic seminars. He co-organized/chaired the Symposia on new generation solar cells at the Materials Research Society Spring Meeting 2012 in San Francisco and at the European MRS 2015 in Lille. He is co-founding partner of the university spin-off ?Dyers?, is on the Advisory Board of the Dyepower Industrial-University Consortium (created to develop building integrated photovoltaics) and on the Editorial Board of Solar Energy (Elsevier). He has authored over 100 publications, 4 book chapters and 16 patents. His current main research activities are in perovskite, polymer and dye sensitized solar cells mainly for BIPV applications.Awards and Recognitions- Gold Award winner for ?World First Nanorod based solar module? project (joint work by CHOSE and Malaysia Pahang) at the biannual International Conference and Exposition on Inventions by Institutions of Higher Learning, PECIPTA (2015)- Selected as top 100 creative persons by the province of Rome and featured on the RomaCreativa book volume (2012)- "Green Vision Prize? for his research on organic photovoltaics sponsored by the ?Modus Vivendi? magazine (2011), Rome, Italy- ?Mario Sannino? Prize for the best contribution at the 39th Meeting of the Italian Association of Electronics (2007)- Awarded a ?Re-entry of Brains? fellowship contract by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (2005)- The Centre for Hybrid and Organic Solar Energy, of which he is co-founder, has been selected as the top ?100 Italian Energy Stories? by ENEL (2015)- The Centre for Hybrid and Organic Solar Energy, of which he is co-founder, has been awarded the Sette Green Awards 2015 by the magazine of the ?Corriere della Sera? (2015).His scholar citation record can be found at:https://scholar.google.it/citations?user=RUClnygAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=sra
