Flávia Maria Medeiros Gomes

Atualmente é doutoranda em Pesquisa Translacional pela Monash University, Austrália investigando a relação bidirecional entre epilepsia e depressão, buscando compreeender como um cérebro com epilepsia e o sistema neuroendócrino respondem a estressores em um modelo de epilepsia do lobo temporal em roedores. Também procura compreender como antidepressivos afetam as crises epilépticas e os comportamentos afetivos decorrentes da doença em diferentes modelos de epilepsia do lobo temporal e epilepsia pós-traumática. Possui mestrado em Biologia Animal pela Universidade de Brasília/Brasil - UnB (2016) e bacharelado e licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas pela UnB (2014). É Tradutora de Língua Portuguesa das Mídias Socias da International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE).

Currently Flavia is a PhD Candidate in Translational Research at Monash University, Australia. In her PhD project, she is interested to investigate the bidirectional relationship between epilepsy and depression, looking to further understand how an epileptic brain and the neuroendocrine system respond to stressors in a rodent model of temporal lobe epilepsy. She is also interested to understand how antidepressants influence seizures and behavioural outcomes of epilepsy in several models of temporal lobe epilepsy and post-traumatic epilepsy. She has a Masters degree in Animal Biology (University of Brasília - UnB/2016), Bachelor's and teaching's degree in Biological Sciences (UnB/2014). She is the Portuguese Translator of the International League Against Epilepsy- ILAE social media.
