Loraine Campanati Araujo de Andrade

Holds a degree in Biological Sciences from UENF (1997) and a Master's Degree in Morphology from UERJ (2000).Holds a Ph.D. in Sciences from the Institute of Biophysics Carlos Chagas Filho from UFRJ. Was a post-doctoral fellow at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development and at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders (NINDS), both in the United States. Develops research on neural stem cells, enteric nervous system cells, tumor stem cells derived from glioblastoma, development of the neural stem niche and tumor niche. Studies the structural and biochemical modifications caused in the neurogenic niche of the subventricular region in the presence of a xenotransplanted glioblastoma. It is involved in the study of the pathogenic effects of Zika virus infection on cells of the central and peripheral nervous system, the development of an animal model of infection and the testing of several antiviral compounds using high content screening platforms, in vitro and in vivo cellular models .

possui graduação em Ciencias Biologicas pela UENF(1997), mestrado em Morfologia pela UERJ (2000) e doutorado em Ciências pelo Instituto de Biofísica Carlos Chagas Filho da UFRJ.Tem pós doutorado pelo Lieber Institute for Brain Development e pelo Instituto Nacional de Desordens Neurológicas e Derrame (NINDS), ambos nos Estados Unidos. Desenvolve pesquisa em células tronco neurais, células do sistema nervoso entérico, células tronco tumorais derivadas de glioblastoma, desenvolvimento do nicho de células tronco neurais e do nicho tumoral. Pesquisa as modificações estruturais e bioquímicas causadas no nicho neurogênico da região subventricular na presença de um glioblastoma xenotransplantado. Está envolvida no estudo dos efeitos patogênicos da infecção do vírus Zika em células do sistema nervoso central e periférico, no desenvolvimento de um modelo animal de infecção e no teste de diversos compostos antivirais utilizando plataformas de high content screening, modelos celulares in vitro e in vivo. Mãe de dois filhos, esteve em licença maternidade em 2003 e 2006.
