Cihelio Alves Amorim

Doutor em Biodiversidade pela Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco - UFRPE (2021). Mestre em Botânica também pela UFRPE (2017). Bacharel em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Regional do Cariri - URCA (2016). Realizou estágio de pós-doutorado na Middle East Technical University - METU (Turquia) (2021-2023, 2023-presente), sob supervisão do Prof. Erik Jeppesen, trabalhando com ecologia de lagos salinos. Tem experiência em estudos relacionados com a ecologia do fitoplâncton, limnologia e interações entre cianobactérias tóxicas, macrófitas submersas e zooplâncton. Seus projetos visam o entendimento dos efeitos da eutrofização, mudanças climáticas, salinização e interações tróficas na ecologia de ecossistemas aquáticos continentais, além da busca de eficientes ferramentas para controle da eutrofização e florações algais. Realizou dois estágios extracurriculares: (1) no Geoparque Araripe, trabalhando com os aspetos ambientais, geológicos, paleontológicos, biodiversidade, conservação e geoturismo na Bacia Sedimentar da Chapara do Araripe (CE, PE, PI e PB); e (2) no Projeto Soldadinho do Araripe, onde atuou no reflorestamento de áreas de encosta da Chapada do Araripe para proteção da ave endêmica da região Antilophia bokermanni Coelho & Silva, 1998 e executou atividades voltadas para a conscientização ambiental. É membro da "International Network on Limnology of Drylands" e Primeiro Secretário da "Associação Brasileira de Limnologia", atuando na área de divulgação científica através de diversas atividades de extensão universitária em plataformas digitais. É revisor de diversos periódicos internacionais. Acumula um total de 14 premiações científicas, incluindo melhor trabalho de conclusão de curso ou pela apresentação de trabalhos em eventos científicos. Em 2022 foi vencedor do Prêmio Capes de Tese na área de Biodiversidade e do Grande Prêmio Capes de Tese no colégio do conhecimento Ciências da Vida. Em 2018 recebeu o prêmio Dárdano de Andrade Lima de Melhor Dissertação de Mestrado na área de Ciências da Vida da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco. Conducted postdoctoral research at the Middle East Technical University - METU (Turkey) (2021-2023, 2023-current), under the supervision of Prof. Erik Jeppesen, working on the ecology of saline lakes. Has experience in studies related to phytoplankton ecology, limnology, and interactions between toxic cyanobacteria, submerged macrophytes, and zooplankton. Their projects aim to understand the effects of eutrophication, climate change, salinization, and trophic interactions on the ecology of continental aquatic ecosystems, as well as the search for efficient tools for eutrophication control and algal blooms. Completed two extracurricular internships: (1) at the Araripe Geopark, working on environmental, geological, paleontological, biodiversity, conservation, and geotourism aspects in the Sedimentary Basin of Chapara do Araripe (CE, PE, PI, and PB); and (2) in the Soldadinho do Araripe Project, where they worked on reforesting slope areas of the Chapada do Araripe to protect the endemic bird species Antilophia bokermanni Coelho & Silva, 1998 and carried out activities focused on environmental awareness. They are a member of the "International Network on Limnology of Drylands" and First Secretary of the "Brazilian Limnology Association", working in the area of scientific dissemination through various university extension activities on digital platforms. They are a reviewer for several international journals. They have accumulated a total of 14 scientific awards, including best graduation thesis or presentation of papers at scientific events. In 2022, they won the Capes Thesis Award in the Biodiversity area and the Grand Capes Thesis Award in the Life Sciences knowledge area. In 2018, they received the Dárdano de Andrade Lima Award for Best Master's Dissertation in the area of Life Sciences from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco.
