Timo Bartholl

Timo Bartholl completed ?Geography of the Development Countries with focus on Latin America? at Eberhard-Karls University in Tübingen/Germany in 2006. During his studies, in 2002/2003, took classes at the Geography Department of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) during an exchange with internship from the German Service of Academic Exchange (DAAD). From 2003 to 2006 was active in the context of World, Regional and Local Social Forums and realized his master research while participating in the organizing process of the Fifth Intercontinental Youth Camp in Porto Alegre/Brazil in 2004/2005, with support from DAAD. Since 2008 lives and participates in grassroot social movements in the Northern Zone of Rio de Janeiro, integrating, since 2010, the Collective and Community Space Roça! in the favela Timbau/Maré. Studied ?Teaching in ground and middle schools? at University Candido Mendes in 2009 with internship at the Center for Education Anísio Teixeira (CEAT) and worked as community teacher in English, German and geography from 2008 to 2011. In 2011 started PhD studies at the Institute for Urban and Regional Planning and Research (IPPUR/UFRJ) and in 2012 migrated to the PhD course at the Department of Geography of the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), where he completed his PhD with support from CNPq between 03/2012 and 02/2014 and FAPERJ between 03/2014 and 02/2016. Since 2012 inegrates and nowadays coordinates, together with founder Rogério Haesbaert, the Nucleus of Research on Globalization and Regionalisation (NUREG/UFF). Worked as substitute professor at the Department of Geography of the Multidisciplinary Institute of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (IM/UFRRJ), lecturing Population and Urban Geography in 2016/2 and ?Political Theory? in 2017/1 for the PARFOR program. In 2017/2 and 2018 worked as Research Associate with the Department of Geography of Loughborough University/England in the project NutriCities, that reflects on relations between the horizon of food sovereignty and the urban periphery. Since 6/2019 occupies a post as Adjunct Professor at the Department of Geography of the UFF/Niterói. Lectures with focus on Regional Geographies and Geopolitics and develops Geographies in movement(s): geographies of social movements and territorial dynamics of urban peripheries and methods of community action research.

Timo Bartholl é formado em "Geografia dos Países em Desenvolvimento com Foco na América Latina" pela Universidade Eberhard-Karls de Tübingen, Alemanha (2006). Durante o estudo, em 2002/2003, cursou disciplinas da graduação na Geografia da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) com bolsa de intercâmbio do Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD). Entre 2003 e 2006 atuou no contexto de Fóruns Sociais Mundiais, Regionais e Locais e realizou sua pesquisa de mestrado ao participar do processo organizador do V. Acampamento Intercontinental da Juventude em Porto Alegre em 2004/2005 com apoio do DAAD. Desde 2008 mora e atua em movimentos sociais de base na Zona Norte do Rio de Janeiro, integrando, desde 2010 o coletivo e espaço comunitário ?Roça!" no Timbau/Maré. Cursou "Docência do Ensino Fundamental e Médio" na Universidade Candido Mendes (RJ) em 2009, com estágio no Centro Educacional Anísio Teixeira (CEAT) e atuou como professor comunitário de inglês, alemão e Geografia entre 2008 e 2011. Em 2011 ingressou ao curso de Doutorado em Planejamento Urbano e Regional no Instituto de Planejamento Urbano e Regional (IPPUR/UFRJ) e em 2012 migrou para o curso de Doutorado em Geografia (Ordenamento Territorial Urbano-Regional) da Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), onde se formou doutor como bolsista do CNPq entre 03/2012 e 02/2014, e da FAPERJ entre 03/2014 e 02/2016. Integra desde 2012 e hoje coordena, junto ao fundador Rogério Haesbaert, o Núcleo de Estudos Território e Resistência na Globalização (NUREG/CNPq). Em 2016/2 atuou como Professor Substituto do Departamento de Geografia do Instituto Multidisciplinar da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (IM/UFRRJ), ministrando as disciplinas Geografia da População e Geografia Urbana, e em 2017/1 atuou como docente no programa PARFOR/UFRRJ, ministrando a disciplina "Teoria Política". Entre 2017/2 e 2018 trabalhou na função de Pesquisador Associado do Departamento de Geografia da Universidade de Loughborough/Inglaterra no projeto de pesquisa NutriCities, visando refletir a relação do horizonte da soberania alimentar com a periferia urbana. Desde 6/2019 atua como Professor Adjunto no Departamento de Geografia da UFF/Niterói. Leciona com focos em Geografia Regional e Geografia dos Blocos Mundiais de Poder e desenvolve Geografias em movimento(s): Geografias dos movimentos sociais e das dinâmicas territoriais nas periferias urbanas e métodos de pesquisa-ação comunitária. Na interface movimento social/universidade atua nas linhas temáticas "favelas como territórios de resistência - trabalho de base - coletivismo econômico - soberania alimentar e agroecologia".
