Osvaldo Livio Soliano Pereira

Electrical Engineer by Federal University of Bahia (1981), Specialisation in electrical engineering by the École Supérieure d'Electricité (SUPELEC), France and Ph.D in Energy Policy by Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (1992), England. Adjoint Professor at the Federal University of Bahia Reconcavo (UFRB) since June 2014. Founding Partner of the Brazilian Center for Energy and Climate Change (CBEM). It was Professor at the University Salvador (UNIFACS) between 1997 and 2012, where he coordinated the Master Degree on Regulation of Energy Industry. Senior Member of the IEEE. Former President of the Brazilian Society of Energy Planning (SBPE). Concluded in February 2011 a sabbatical period of 18 months as a resident consultant to the National Electricity Board, of Mozambique. He worked as a consultant for the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ministry of Mines and Energy, among other national and international organizations. Has experience in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on the Electricity Generation from renewable energy sources and in rural electrification and universal service, still operates in the energy policy area, and climate change.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Elétrica pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (1981), especialização pela École Supérieure d'Électricité (SUPELEC), na França e doutorado em Política Energética pelo Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (1992), na Inglaterra. Professor Adjunto da Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA), desde julho de 2017. Sócio-Fundador do Centro Brasileiro de Energia e Mudança do Clima (CBEM), que dirigiu até 2014. Foi Professor Adjunto da Universidade Federal do Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB) de junho de 2014 a julho de 2017, e Professor Titular da Universidade Salvador (UNIFACS), entre 1997 e 2012, tendo coordenado o Mestrado de Regulação da Indústria de Energia e o Grupo de Pesquisa G-MUDE. Membro Senior do IEEE. Ex-Presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Planejamento Energético (SBPE). Concluiu em fevereiro de 2011 um período sabático de 18 meses como consultor residente junto ao Conselho Nacional de Electricidade, de Moçambique. Trabalhou, como Consultor, para o Banco Mundial, Programa das Nações Unidas para o Desenvolvimento (PNUD), Ministério de Minas e Energia, dentre outros organismos nacionais e internacionais. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Elétrica, com ênfase em Geração da Energia Elétrica a partir de fontes renováveis de energia e em eletrificação rural e universalização do serviço, atua ainda na área de política energética e mudança climática.
