Sérgio Waldir Bajay

Engenheiro mecânico pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) em 1973. Mestre em engenharia mecânica (modalidade ?térmica e fluídos?) pela Unicamp em 1976. PhD em engenharia pela University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Inglaterra, em 1981. Professor do curso de engenharia mecânica da Unicamp de 1974 a 2009. Fundador (1987) e professor do curso de pós-graduação em planejamento de sistemas energéticos da Unicamp. Criador (1993) e pesquisador sênior do NIPE ? Núcleo Interdisciplinar de Pesquisas Energéticas da Unicamp. Diretor do Departamento Nacional de Políticas Energéticas do Ministério de Minas e Energia durante o período 2001 ? 2002. Pesquisador e consultor nas áreas de formulação de políticas energéticas, planejamento energético e regulação de mercados de energia, junto a órgãos governamentais e empresas, estatais e privadas, desde 1982. Membro do Conselho Consultivo da Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (EPE), uma empresa estatal que realiza estudos de planejamento energético para o Ministério de Minas e Energia, de 2008 a 2010. Membro do Conselho Estadual de Política Energética, do governo do Estado de São Paulo, de março de 2011 dezembro de 2018. Membro do Comitê Gestor de Indicadores e Níveis de Eficiência Energética ? CGIEE, como representante de universidade brasileira, especialista em matéria de energia, de novembro de 2013 a novembro de 2018. Presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Planejamento Energético de maio de 1991 a abril de 1995 e de agosto de 2012 a agosto de 2014

Professor Bajay received a degree in mechanical engineering from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), Campinas, CP, Brazil, in 1973, a master´s degree in mechanical engineering, in the area of fluid mechanics and thermal sciences, from Unicamp, in 1976, and a PhD in engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in 1981. He was a lecturer in the mechanical engineering course of Unicamp from 1974 to 2009 and created, in 1987, in the same university, the post-graduate course on planning of energy systems, where he lectures and supervise students since then. Professor Bajay founded the Interdisciplinary Centre of Energy Planning at Unicamp in 1993, where he was director from 1994 to 1999 and senior research fellow from that period on. During the years 2001 and 2002 he obtained a license from the university to hold a position in the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy as Director of the National Department of Energy Policy. Excluding this period when he served in the Brazilian government, Professor Bajay has been working as a research fellow and consultant, at Unicamp, for government bodies, and public and private companies, in the areas of energy policies, energy planning and regulation of energy markets. During 2008 and 2009 he was a member of the Advisory Council of the Energy Research Company (EPE), a public company that carries out energy planning studies for the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy. From April 2011 on, Professor Bajay is a member of the São Paulo State Council of Energy Policy (CEPE). From August 2012 to August 2014 Professor Bajay was President of the Brazilian Society of Energy Planning. Since November 2013, Prof. Bajay is a member, representing the Brazilian universities, on the Executive Committee of Energy Efficiency Indicators (CGIEE)
