Doutorado em Geografia pela Universidade de Lisboa (2001), investigador e co-coordenador do Grupo de Investigação ZOE do Centro de Estudos Geográficos do Instituto de Geografia e Ordenamento do Território da Universidade de Lisboa, onde também desempenha as funções de professor associado (iniciou funções docentes em 1988 e passou à presente categoria em 2005). Desenvolve investigação nas áreas dos estudos sociais urbanos, da geografia política e geopolítica, da demografia e das migrações internacionais.

PhD in Geography from the University of Lisbon (2001), researcher and co-coordinator of the ZOE Research Group of the Center for Geographical Studies of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon, where he also works as an associate professor (began teaching in 1988 and became the current category in 2005).
