Ye Jingzhong
Ye Jingzhong (1967) is a Professor and Dean at College of Humanities and DevelopmentStudies (COHD), China Agricultural University. He holds a PhD degree in Social Sciencesfrom Wageningen University. He was engaged in a range of rural project interventions as adevelopment practitioner from 1988 to 1998, since then has focused his professional career onaction research and academic research in the area of development studies. His researchinterests include: history and critique of development, development intervention and ruraltransformations, rural society and agrarian change, labour migration and rural left-behindpopulation, peasant agriculture and land politics, rural education and social problems. InChinese and English language, he has published a number of refereed articles and bookchapters, single-authored books and (co-)edited scholarly volumes. He is a member of theeditorial board of the Journal of Agrarian Change, Development Studies Research, Sexualityand Disability, and is the editor of the Journal of China Agricultural University (SocialSciences Edition). He won the First Class Award of Humanities and Social SciencesResearches among Universities in China (6th)in 2013, First Class Award of Philosophy andSocial Sciences Researches in Beijing in 2008 and Second Class Award of Philosophy andSocial Sciences Researches in Beijing in 2010, and Award for Excellent Research of RuralDevelopment of China in 2010. He has been labeled as the ?Microphone of Farmers? by aleading Chinese Magazine Nan Feng Chuang. His research on ?Left-behind Population inRural China? has brought great social impacts to the society and policy impacts to the centralgovernment of China. Another research on ?the Construction of the New Countryside:Farmers? Perspectives? has made huge policy impacts in China. Based on the researchfindings, a policy paper indicating nine problems and nine recommendations were submittedto the central government, both the primer Wen Jiabao and the vice primer Hui Liangyu hadendorsed the policy paper. His research on rural left-behind population and countrysideconstruction has been largely covered by media in China and aboard.
