Degree in civil engineering at the Federal University of Bahia - UFBA (1994) with a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of São Paulo (1998) and post-doctoral fellow at the Université Joseph Fourrier, Grenoble, France (2007). He is currently full Professor at the Department of Materials Science and technology, Polytechnic School, UFBA and ad-hoc consultant of some research institutions in Brazil. He is reviewer of several journals in the Geotechnical field, presenting a broad experience in civil engineering and interdisciplinary projects. As a Geotechnical Engineering, his research subjects focus on unsaturated soils, sanitary landfills, waste mechanics and MSW biodegradation aspects, pollutant transport and diagnostic and treatment of impacted areas.
Professor Titular da Universidade Federal da Bahia, UFBA, onde desenvolve atividades de pesquisa e de extensão na área geotécnia, com ênfase em solos não saturados, transporte de poluentes miscíveis e não miscíveis, barreiras de contenção, monitorização ambiental de aterros sanitários, comportamento mecânico dos resíduos sólidos urbanos, diagnóstico ambiental e técnicas de remediação e geofísica aplicada. Graduado na UFBA em1994, com mestrado (1995) e Doutorado (1998) pela Universidade de São Paulo e estágio Pós Doutoral na Universidade Joseph Fourrier, França.
