Ph.D. in Computer Science (Doutor em Ciência da Computação) pelas Universidades do Minho, Aveiro e Porto pelo programa MAP-i (Doctoral Programme in Computer Science), Portugal. Docente Permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Computação (PPGCC) do INF/UFG. Entre 2007 e 2008 foi pesquisador do Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT-Porto, Portugal) atuando em projetos financiados pela União Europeia (EU) na área de Network Coding. Entre 2008 e 2010 foi pesquisador do Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores, Tecnologia e Ciência (INESC-TEC, Porto, Portugal) atuando na área de User-centric Routing. Entre 2011 e 2013 foi pesquisador do SITILabs (Lisboa, Portugal) atuando na área de Energy-efficient Routing. Entre 2013 e 2014 foi colaborador do COPELABS (Association for the Research and Development of Cognition and People-centric Computing) Lisboa, Portugal. Em 2019 esteve na Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS para o período sabático (Pós-doutorado). Membro da SBC, coordenador e colaborador de projetos de PD&I financiados pelo CNPq, CAPES, FAPEG, FAPESP, RNP, FCT-Portugal, Horizon Europe. Atualmente é membro do grupo de pesquisa LABORAtory (Computer Networks and Distributed Systems) atuando principalmente na grande área das linhas de pesquisa em Redes de Computadores e Comunicações: Redes Sem fio e de Sensores, Protocolos de roteamento, Multi-hop routing, Opportunistic Routing, Energy Efficiency, Green Computing, Cloud/Fog/Edge Computing, Cidades e Campus Inteligentes, Internet das Coisas (IoT), Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), Software Defined Radio (SDR), Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC), Redes sem fio inteligentes (utilizando técnicas de IA/ML), 5G/6G NGN.

Currently he is member of CNPq Group - Scientific Computing in Complex Data working mainly in Networking area: Wireless and Sensor Networks, Mobile Computing, Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing, Routing metrics, Opportunistic Routing, Energy Efficiency, Green Computing, Software Defined Networking, Cloud Computing, Network Simulators (NS-2, NS-3, ONE).
