Full Professor at the Physics Department of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) and Director of Scientific Production at the Pro-Rectory of Research at UFMG. Coordinator of the Crystallography Laboratory at UFMG - LabCri (www.labcri.ufmg.br) and member of the Commission on Aperiodic Crystals (IUCr). He Develops research in the area of Solid State physics / Crystallography, within the following topics: aperiodic systems, crystal engineering, functional molecular materials and MOFs. Graduated in Physics from UFMG- Brazil (1992), he holds a Master's degree in Physics from UFMG (1995) and a PhD in Physics (Crystallography) from UFMG and from the Université de Lausanne (UNIL) Switzerland (1999). He held postdoctoral work at the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), Campinas-Brazil, (2000-2001) and at the University of Bath, Bath-England (2012-2013). He was an assistant at UNIL, Lausanne-Switzerland, (2001-2003) and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne-Switzerland (2003-2005). He was Adjunct Professor at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Niterói-Brazil (2005-2006).
Professor Titular do Departamento de Física da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)-Brasil (2006-). Atualmente exerce o cargo de Diretor de Produção Científica da Pró-Reitora de Pesquisa (PRPq) da UFMG (2017-). Coordenador do Laboratório de Cristalografia da UFMG - LabCri (www.labcri.ufmg.br) (2018-), membro da Commission on Aperiodic Crystals (IUCr) (2014-). Desenvolve pesquisas nas área de Física do Estado Sólido / Cristalografia, dentro dos seguintes temas: cristalogênese, sistemas aperiódicos, engenharia de cristais, materiais moleculares funcionais e MOFs. Formado em Física pela UFMG- Brasil (1992), possui mestrado em Física pela UFMG (1995) e Doutorado em Física (Cristalografia) pela UFMG e pela Université de Lausanne - Suíça (1999). Realizou pós-doutorado no Centro Nacional de Pesquisa em Energia e Materiais (CNPEM), Campinas-Brazil, (2000-2001) e na University of Bath, Bath-Inglaterra (2012-2013). Foi assistente na Université de Lausanne, Lausanne-Suíça, (2001-2003) e no Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne-Suíça (2003-2005). Foi Professor Adjunto do Departamento de Química Inorgânica da Universidade Federal Fluminense, Niterói-Brasil (2005-2006). Foi Coordenador de Tecnologia do Centro de Apoio ao Ensino a Distância (CAED) da UFMG (2015-2016).
