Areas of Research Interests: Palaeobotanical (mega and micro plant remains) studies for palaeovegetation, palaeoenvironment and palaeoclimate delineation in the Cenozoic time; Forensic Biology (Palynology, Limnology and Xylotomy); Melissopalynology; PalynotaxonomyI did my graduation in Botany from University of Kalyani, India (2005), master's in Botany from University of Kalyani, India (2007), doctorate in Botany (palaeobotany and palynology) from University of Calcutta, India (2014) and post-doctorate in palaeobotany and palynology from Indian Statistical Institute, India. I have 10 years of experience in palaeobotany, palynology, geosciences focusing on Palaeoclimatology, palaeogeography and palaeoecology. I have ample expertise on palaeobotanical and palynological techniques and I am trained in operating different instruments related to palaeobotanical research (Zeiss Axioscope 40 Microscope, Zeiss HAL 100 Image analyser microscope, Zeiss Stemi SV 11 Apo Microscope Stereo,Heal force Neofuge-18R refrigerated centrifuge, Remi R8-C Laboratory Centrifuge etc.). My research skills and known techniques are 1)extraction of palynomorphs from forensic exhibits, honey and spider webs, 2)Maceration of Cenozoic (Tertiary and Quaternary) & Mesozoic sediments for pollen and non-pollen study. I have carried out several fieldworks in the Cenozoic fossil exposures in Arunachal Pradesh and Darjeeling (West Bengal) of India for sedimentological and palaeobotanical studies. I have published several research articles in coveted National and International Journals i.e., Proceedings of Zoological Society of Kolkata, India (Springer), Journal of Forensic Research (USA), Research Journal of Forensic Sciences (India), PLoS ONE, Current Botany (India), Anil Aggrawal's Internet Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (India), Journal of the Geological Society of India, Palaios etc. I got awarded first prize for poster presentation at the?3rd International Conference on Legal Medicine, Medical Negligence & Litigation in Medical Practice and 3rd International Conference on Current Trends in Forensic Sciences, Medicine & Toxicology? in 2012 at Jaipur, Rajasthan, India (sponsored by Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge & Chelmsford, UK) for my significant research work. I have received International travel grant from University Grants Commission, India for attending ?International Botanical Conference of Young Scientists? in St. Petersburg, Russia during 11-16 November 2012. I was nominated for the Young Scientists Award (2012-2013) by the Indian Science Congress Association in Plant Sciences. I have participated in different workshops: 1) A national level workshop on ?Hands- on Training on Palaeobotanical and Palynological Techniques? from April 21-28, 2014 at Department of Botany, University of Calcutta, West Bengal, India, 2) Workshop on ?Statistical Methods and R Programming for Biologists? held in the Agricultural & Ecological Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata during 07th -13th March, 2018 and 3)Workshop on ?Morphometrics and its applications in Palaeontology? held in the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata during 28th ? 29th March, 2018. I have membership in 1)International Organisation of Palaeobotany (Annual member), 2)Indian Academy of Forensic Science (Life member), 3)Botanical Society of Bengal, India (Life member), 4)Indian Association for Medico-legal Experts, 5)Indian Science Congress Association (Life member). I have good skill on statistical and computer-aided presentation of data. I am trained in computer applications and operations (Microsoft office, Adobe Photoshop, TILIA-TILIAGRAPH, Corel Draw, XLSTAT etc.). I also have completed an advanced post-graduate diploma course certification on ?Forensic Science and DNA Fingerprinting? from IFS (International Forensic Science) Forensic Science Department, Pune, Maharashtra, India.
