Graduado em Medicina pela Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Santos (FCMS) da Universidade Lusíada em 1984; Fez Residência de Clínica Médica no Hospital Guilherme Álvaro (Hospital-Escola da FCMS) durante 2 anos; Fez Residência de Gastroenterologia Clínica no Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (HCFMUSP) durante 2 anos; Foi Médico-Preceptor da Disciplina de Gastroenterologia Clínica do HCFMUSP durante 2 anos; Obteve o Título de Mestre em Gastroenterologia Clínica pela Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) em 1994; Obteve o Título de Doutor em Gastroenterologia Clínica pela FMUSP em 1999; Fez pós-doutorado durante um ano na Universidade do Arizona no Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System (SAVAHCS) no serviço do Prof Ronnie Fass nos Estados Unidos em 2007 com bolsa recebida do SAVAHCS. Título de Livre-docente em Gastroenterologia pela FMUSP em 2012; Foi Presidente Eleito da Sociedade de Gastroenterologia de São Paulo no Biênio 2015 à 2016. Atualmente é Professor de Pós-graduação na área de Gastroenterologia Clínica da FMUSP e Chefe do Grupo de Esôfago e Motilidade Digestiva do Serviço de Gastroenterologia Clínica do HCFMUSP, Coordenador da Residência Médica em Gastroenterologia, Hepatologia e Endoscopia Digestiva do HCFMUSP. Atuando na área médica com ênfase em Gastroenterologia Clínica, com trabalhos científicos nos seguintes temas: Doença do Refluxo Gastroesofágico, Motilidade Digestiva, Helicobacter pylori e Distúrbios Funcionais Gastrointestinais.

Acting in the medical field with an emphasis on Clinical Gastroenterology, with scientific work on the following topics: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, Digestive Motility, Helicobacter pylori and Gastrointestinal Functional Disorders.
