Rafael Melo Freire

Possui graduação em licenciatura (2010) em Química, mestrado (2012) e doutorado/sanduiche (2016) em química com área de concentração inorgânica pela Universidade Federal do Ceará. Durante o doutorado, passou 12 meses nos Estados Unidos, na Universidade de Massachusetts - Amherst, o qual foi financiado pela CAPES (Science without borders - 2014/2015). Trabalhou como postdoctorado na Universidad de Santiago de Chile (2017 - 2020). Atualmente, trabalha como pesquisador no Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias (INIA - Chile). Contudo, vale mencionar que é vinculado ao Centro para el Desarrollo de la Nanociencia y Nanotecnología (CEDENNA) como pesquisador jovem. No campo docente, atua como professor na Universidad Autónoma de Chile.

During the doctorate, He went to United States to work in the Rotello's group at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst (Program Science of Borders 2014/2015 - CAPES). The developed research in USA was in the sensing field, where worked synthesizing carbon quantum dots, a new carbon-based nanoparticles accidentally discovered in 2004, to use as a platform to detect and identify proteins. Further, previous published papers evidence the experience in the production of magnetic nanoparticles throgh different methodologies. After obtain the doctor's degree, He got a postdoc position in the Solid-Biological Interface Group at the department of physics of the Universidade federal do Ceará. However, it is still in a cooperation position helping with the writing of scientifical works. Now, He is working for the Center for the Development for the Nanoscience and nanotechnology (Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH) as a Young Researcher and for Universidad Autónoma de Chile as a professor.
