Jean-Pierre Hermand

Ingénieur Civil degree in electrical and mechanical engineering and the Ph.D. degree in applied sciences from the Université libre de Bruxelles (U.L.B.), Bruxelles, Belgium, in 1981 and 1994. Currently, he is Professor and Research Director at the Université libre de Bruxelles, where he founded the Environmental hydroacoustics Laboratory. Since 2001, he has been coordinating research activities on ocean acoustic observatories, geoacoustic inversion, shallow-water tomography and data assimilation in the framework of European Union Framework Programmes and international projects.
