Leon George Higley

Professor of Applied Ecology and Forensic Science in the School of Natural Resources, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, appointment: 20% teaching, 80% research. Current teaching assignments include: forensic Entomology (undergraduate/graduate; resident and distance versions); professional practice and ethics in Forensic Science (undergraduate/graduate; resident and distance versions). My research program is broadly focused on insect physiological ecology. My particular areas of current emphasis are: forensic entomology (insect development/post mortem interval determination and animal decompositional ecology), insect conservation (population biology and ecophysiology), arthropod-plant stress interactions and management (particularly photosynthetic responses of plants to arthropod injury), and pest management theory (with emphasis on decision making and environmental impacts).
