Lionel Segui Gonçalves

Full professor of USP, retired in 2009. Emerit Professor of CNPq since 2005 and Full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and Sao Paulo State Sciences Academy. Geneticist specialized in Africanized Honey Bees . Graduate in Natural Sciences in 1965 by UNESP "Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho" of Rio Claro-SP. Obtained in 1970 his PhD in Honey Bee Genetics at the FMRP- Universidade de São Paulo , under the orientation of Prof. Dr. Warwick Estevam Kerr. Was contracted in 1967 by the FFCLRP-USP of Ribeirão Preto-SP where obtained all his titles. Obtained in 1983 the title of Full Professor by FFCLRP-USP and retired in Dec. 2009. From 1992 to 1996 was Dean of the FFCLRP-USP and Mayor of the Ribeirao Preto USP Campus in 1992/1993. He colaborated with Prof. W.E.Kerr in the instalation of the Genetic Department at FMRP-USP and in the organization of the Pos-Graduation areas of Genetics (FMRP) and Entomology (FFCLRP). Retired as Full Professor in 1983 but has the same activities in both areas until now. Last April 2010 moved to Mossoro-RN as CAPES-Visitant Senior Professor at the UFERSA-Universidade Federal Rural do Semiárido , where he acts until now at the Animal Science Department, and since 2014 under contract as regular Visitant Pfofessor and has under his orientation 4 Ph-D.students and 1 Master D.students. In 2008 he criated and heads until now the CETAPIS-RN (Beekeeping Technology Center of Rio Grande do Norte) where more than 400 new beekeepers received instructions. In dec. 2012 the CETAPIS-RN received an important public RN State Government recognition. In the end of 2010 Prof. L.S.Gonçalves received the Citisenship titles of both cities Mossoró-RN and Ribeirão Preto-SP.Received several homage and also a medal of CNPq. He has more than 150 scientific publications, has oriented more than 40 MS and Ph.D thesis . He has large experience in Animal Genetics, focusing on Honeybee Genetics and specially Genetic improvement of Africanized Honey Bees (AHB) , Beekeeping and Artificial Insemination of Honey Bees. Since 2010 collaborate with the Secretary of Agriculture of Rio Grande do Norte and SEBRAE-RN in programes of beekeeping. Since Dec. 2013 coordenates in UFERSA a Project of R$ 1.5oo.ooo,oo suported by the Brazilian Ministry of Sciences and Technology ( Project: CCTA-Centro de Capacitação e Tecnologia em Apicultura . For more than 15 years was until 2014 the President of the Scientific Comission of the CBA-Brazilian Beekeeping Confederation which organizes all the Brazilian beekeeping congresses and actually is the Honor President of it. He act also as representative member of Brazil at the FILAPI-Federação Iberolatinoamericana de Apicultura , and also as representtive member of the Scientific Biology Comission of APIMONDIA (Beekeeping International Federation) which congregate 110 country members. He is responsible together with his sun Daniel M.Gonçalves for the Campaing of Protection of Bees "BEE OR NOT TO BE " with sites in portuguese, english and Spanish ( www.semabelhasemalimento.com.br) criated in August 2013 in UFERSA in Mossoró-RN and presented later in October 2013 in Kiev-Ucrania during the Apimondia Congress. In 2014 criated the site BEE ALERT ( www.semabelhasemalimento.com.br/beealert) which allows beekeepers and researchers to register on line in a World Map the ocurrences of disapearing (CCD) and deaths of bees .In 2014 the BEE OR NOT TO BE Campaig was the second place ( silver medal) among more than hundred international campaigns in Cannes, France . In the International APIMONDIA Congress of 2015 in South Korea the Campaign received two medals for the site and Video, respectively.In the International Apimondia Congress of 2017 in Instambul-Turkey received the title of Honorary member. In 2018 received in Uruguay, homage by FILAPI (Federation Latinoamericana de Apicultura and Sociedade Latinoamericana de Investigación de abejas SOLATINA.

Titular aposentado da USP em 2009, Professor Emérito of CNPq desde 2005 e Membro Titular da Academia Brasileira de Ciências e da Academia de Ciências do Estado de São Paulo. Especialista em genética de abelhas africanizadas. Graduou-se em 1965 em História Natural ( hoje Ciências Biológicas ) pela UNESP de Rio Claro-SP. Doutorou-se em 1970 em genética de abelhas pela FMRP-USP, sob a orientação do geneticista Prof.Dr. Warwick Estevam Kerr. Foi contratado em 1967 pela FFCLRP-USP de Ribeirão Preto. Fez Livre Docência na FMRP-USP em 1976, Prof. Adjunto em 1980 e Concurso de Prof. Titular em 1983, os dois últimos pela FFCLRP-USP. Foi Diretor da FFCLRP de 1992 e 1996 e Prefeito do Campus da USP de Ribeirão Preto em 1992/1993. Colaborou com o Prof. W.E.Kerr na instalação do Dep.de Genética da FMRP e na criação das áreas de Pós-Graduação em Genética da FMRP e Entomologia da FFCLRP. Aposentou-se como Professor Titular em 2009 . De 2010 a 2014 foi Professor Visitante Nacional Senior da CAPES/MEC na Pós-Graduação do Dep. de Ciências Animais da UFERSA (Universidade Federal Rural do Semi Arido), em Mossoró-RN. De 2014 a 2016 esteve contratado como Professor Visitante e a partir de 2017 até o presente esta contratado como Professor Voluntário na UFERSA. Fundou ,em 2008 ,em Mossoró-RN e dirige até o momento o CETAPIS-RN (Centro Tecnológico de Apicultura e Meliponicultura do Rio Grande do Norte), instalado na Fazenda Experimental da UFERSA onde realiza pesquisas com abelhas africanizadas . No CETAPIS já foram titulados mais de 600 novos apicultores. Em Dez. de 2012 o CETAPIS-RN recebeu do Governo do Estado do RN e Assembléia Legislativa do RN a outorga do título de Entidade de Utilidade Pública Estadual. Nos meses de Novembro e Dezembro de 2010 foi contemplado , respectivamente, com os títulos de Cidadão de Mossoró-RN e de Ribeirão Preto-SP. Recebeu vários prêmios nacionais e internacionais e várias homenagens, inclusive medalha de pesquisador do CNPq . Em 18/04/2005 recebeu o Tiítulo de Pesuisador Emérito do CNPq. Publicou mais de 200 trabalhos científicos e técnicos todos registrados no Curriculo Lattes, tendo mais de 50 orientações entre mestrados e doutorados na USP e UFERSA, além de várias orientações de monografias . Assiduo frequentador de congressos nacionais e internacionais com apresentação de trabalhos. Tem larga experiência em genética de abelhas, atuando nas áreas de : melhoramento , varroatose, comportamento de abelhas, inseminação instrumental e apicultura. Foi por 15 anos Presidente da Comissão Científica da CBA-Confederação Brasileira de Apicultura. É membro da Comissão Internacional de Biologia da APIMONDIA, Federação Internacional de Apicultura que reúne 110 países membros, inclusive o Brasil. Em 2017 participou em Ribeirao Preto-SP, da criação da ong ? Bee Or Not To Be ? que tem como objetivo principal a proteção das abelhas e do meio ambiente e neste mesmo ano recebeu ,no Congresso Internacional de Apicultura , na Turquia, o titulo de Membro Honorario da APIMONDIA. Criador da Campanha de Proteção às Abelhas, "BEE OR NOT TO BE " (www.semabelhasemalimento.com.br) , lançada em 2013 na UFERSA e em Kiev, na Ucrania. Em 2014 lançou o Aplicativo "BEE ALERT" que permite registrar no mapa mundi, on line, as ocorrências de desaparecimento e morte de abelhas. Em 2014 o aplicativo foi premiado em Cannes-França, com o segundo lugar entre mais de cem campanhas e premiado na Apimondia de 2015 ,na Koreia do Sul ,com duas medalhas internacionais. Colabora desde 2010 no nordeste com programas de apicultura e desde 2013 coordena na UFERSA o Projeto CCTA aprovado pelo MCTA com recursos de > R$ 1.5 milhão (atual NCTA - Núcleo de Capacitação Tecnológica em Apicultura do Centro de Ciencias Agrarias da UFERSA ) com obras (anfiteatro etc) em fase final de acabamento. Em 2018 foi homenageado no Uruguay pela Federación Latinoamericana de Apicultura -FILAPI e Sociedad Latinoamericana de Investigación de abejas (SOLATINA) . (LSG 8/01/2019).
