Osvaldo Toshiyuki Hamawaki

Graduate in Agronomy (1979), Master in Genetics and Improvement (1985), both at the Federal University of Viçosa and PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding at ESALQ/ USP (1998). Full Professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia and scholarship Productivity in Technological Development and Innovative Extension of CNPq. He gained great experience in the Coordination of Soy Improvement Program, initiated with the hybridizations, advancement of segregating generations, selections of superior genotypes in the experimental fields, obtaining 15 new conventional cultivars. Of these, the early cultivars, resistant to the Pratylenchus brachyurus nematode such as UFUS 6901 and UFUS 7401, stand out. Other highly productive, early cultivars such as UFUS 7101 and 7415 (resistant drought) and finally UFUS 8401, resistant to P. brachyurus, productivity over 100 bags / ha (see website: www.pmsoja.iciag.ufu.br). Most of the cultivars have been indicated for cultivation in the states of MG, SP, GO, MT, BA, TO, PI and MA. He acted as a speaker at Field Days in the main Soybean Agroins of the country, in the period 2005-2018. He is Postgraduate teaching advisor in Agronomy in the following subjects: classical improvement, emphasis on the application of new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and MicroRNA, aiming genetic resistance to diseases, pests and drought in soy.
