Ana Rosa Lopes Pereira Ribeiro

Ana Ribeiro obtained her degree in Materials Engineering at University of Minho where she spent a semester at Catholic University of Leuven Belgium, in the framework of the Sócrates-Erasmus program. After the graduation she performed a master degree on Processing and Characterization of Materials obtained at the same university. Her PhD was obtained at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, on the Biomedical Engineering Program. The thesis was developed on sea urchin Mutable Collagenous Tissues (MCTs): an inspiring model for tissue regeneration, where the experimental work was developed at the Associate Laboratory IBMC-INEB and in the laboratory of citology and zoology of Milano University (UNIMI). In fact, during her PhD she spent a period in Prof. Candia Carnevali?s lab at Milan, where she acquired expertise in the field of MCT functional morphology elucidated through morphological techniques. She performed a Post-Doc at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP), Faculdade de Odontologia de Araraquara. Her research is based on the cell biomaterials interaction, extracellular matrix microenvironments and tissue regeneration. She was a researcher in the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO) woking in the Bioengineering division with toxicity of nanoparticles in biological systems. She belongs to the Post-Graduation program of Biotecnology from INMETRO and to the Post-Graduation Program of Translational Medicine of University of Grande Rio, where she is actually a Professor. She has publications in journals of high impact factor and with her PhD thesis won the Daniel Jouvance prize attributed by the Station de Biologie Marine du Muséum National d?Histoire Naturelle, France on the topic: Marine nano-structures and marine bio-inspired nano technologies as well as the The European Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Doctoral Award given by the European Society for Biomaterials. Also she won in 2012 the prize Pulido Valente Ciência which distinguish the best papper on biomedical sciences.
bachelor's at Engenharia de Materiais from Universidade do Minho (2005), master's at Processamento e Caracterização de Materiais from Universidade do Minho (2007) and doctorate at Engenharia Biomédica from Universidade do Porto (2012). Has experience in Biomedical Engineering, focusing on Biomedical Engineering, acting on the following subjects: mutable collagenous tissue, echinoderms, extracellular matrix, matrix metalloproteinase and stiffness.
