Fernanda Gadini Finelli

Associate Professor at the Institute for Research on Natural Products at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where she coordinates the research group on Organic Synthesis with projects in organocatalysis, photoredox catalysis, and bioconjugation field. Bachelor in Chemistry from the Federal University of São Carlos (2002), Master in Chemistry also from the Federal University of São Carlos (2004), and Ph.D. in Science from the State University of Campinas (2009). She has experience in Organic Chemistry field, with an emphasis on Organic Synthesis. During her Master's degree, she worked on pericyclic reactions under the guidance of Professor Ursula Brocksom. During her Ph.D., she worked on total synthesis under the guidance of Professor Luiz Carlos Dias. In 2008 she did an internship at the Max-Planck-Institut, under the supervision of Professor Alois Fürstner, where she worked with metallic catalysis. From 2009 to 2010 she was in the group of Professor David MacMillan (Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2021), at Princeton University, working on organocatalysis and radical chemistry. From 2010 to 2012 she was in Professor Carlos Roque's group at Unicamp, working on metallic catalysis. From 2022 to 2023 she was in Professor David Spring's group at the University of Cambridge, working on bioconjugation. Coordinator of the PPG in Chemistry of Natural Products at IPPN-UFRJ (2018-2022). Elected treasurer (2022-2024 term) of the Organic Chemistry Division of the Brazilian Chemical Society.

Professora Associada do Instituto de Pesquisas de Produtos Naturais da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, onde coordena o grupo de pesquisas em Síntese Orgânica com projetos nas áreas de organocatálise, catálise fotorredox e bioconjugação. Bacharela em Química pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2002), mestra em Química também pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2004) e doutora em Ciências pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2009). Tem experiência na área de Química Orgânica, com ênfase em Síntese Orgânica. Durante o mestrado trabalhou com reações pericíclicas sob orientação da professora Ursula Brocksom. Durante o doutorado dedicou-se à síntese total sob orientação do professor Luiz Carlos Dias. Em 2008 realizou um estágio no Max-Planck-Institut, sob supervisão do professor Alois Fürstner, onde trabalhou com catálise metálica. De 2009 à 2010 esteve no grupo do professor David MacMillan (Nobel de Química em 2021), na Universidade de Princeton, trabalhando com organocatálise e química radicalar. De 2010 à 2012 esteve no grupo do professor Carlos Roque, na Unicamp, trabalhando com catálise metálica. De 2022 à 2023 esteve no grupo do professor David Spring, na Universidade de Cambridge, trabalhando com bioconjugação. Coordenadora do PPG em Química de Produtos Naturais do IPPN-UFRJ (2018-2022). Eleita tesoureira (gestão 2022-2024) da Divisão de Química Orgânica da Sociedade Brasileira de Química.
