Rafael Reis de Rezende

Doutor em Microbiologia Agrícola pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa, e Bacharel em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei. Durante a graduação desenvolveu pesquisa na área de Microbiologia, com ênfase em Micologia Médica com a seguinte linha de pesquisa ?Terapia Fotodinâmica aplicada a fungos patogênicos?. Durante o mestrado trabalhou com a caracterização molecular, biológica e evolutiva de dois genomovírus associado com plantas. No doutorado trabalhou com estudo de interação vírus-hospedeiro, evolução e taxonomia de vírus que infectam micro-organismos. Além disso, integrou a equipe de voluntários da UFV envolvida na testagem por RT-PCR de SARS-COV-2 durante a pandemia. Atualmente, atua como pesquisador pós-doc estudando o uso de bacteriófagos líticos e crípticos no controle de bacterioses em culturas de eucalipto.

He has PhD in Agricultural Microbiology at Universidade Federal de Viçosa, and a BA degree in Biological Sciences Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei. During undergraduate studies, he developed research in Microbiology, with emphasis on Medical Mycology, with the following research line "Photodynamic Therapy applied to pathogenic fungi". During his master's degree, he worked with the molecular, biological, and evolutionary characterization of two genomoviruses associated with plants. During her Ph.D. he worked with the study of host-virus interactions, evolution, and taxonomy of viruses that infect microorganisms. In addition, he was part of the team of UFV volunteers involved in RT-PCR testing of SARS-COV-2 during the pandemic. Currently, he is a post-doc researcher studying the use of lytic and cryptic bacteriophages to control bacterial diseases in eucalyptus crops.
