Maria Carolina Beiriz Silva

I am currently a doctoral student in Ecology and Natural Resources at Universidade Federal do Ceará, Brazil. I have earned my BS in Biology from Universidade de Brasília, where I developed my research in molecular biology. I have earned my MS degree in Ecology and Natural Resources from Universidade Federal do Ceará where I wrote a thesis on foraging behaviour and predation risk of cooperative breeding jays. The project included extensive field research in harsh enviroment areas at Northeast of Brazill. Since graduating, I have experience in field and laboratory research in Ecology and Ornithology, as well as capturing and banding birds. My doctoral work focus on animal behaviour, integrating aspects of habitat quality and social behaviour in order to improve our understanding of how harsh environments affects cooperative breeding birds.

Possuo graduação em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade de Brasília e mestrado em Ecologia e Recursos Naturais pela Universidade Federal do Ceará. Atualmente sou aluna de Doutorado na Universidade Federal do Ceará e trabalho com Evolução do Comportamento Social e Ecologia de Populações. Tenho experiência na área de Biologia Molecular e Ecologia, com ênfase em Ecologia Comportamental. Tenho interesse nos seguintes temas: fatores ecológicos que influenciam a cooperação, cooperative breeders, Personalidade animal e Genética de Paisagens.
