Antonio Pires de Camargo

As an Agronomy graduate from State University of Santa Catarina (2007), I received my Master's (2010) and Doctorate (2012) degrees in Hydraulics, Irrigation, and Drainage from State University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP). During my graduate studies, I specialized in hydraulics, instrumentation, electronics, programming, and automation for irrigation engineering applications. I completed my post-doctoral research at IRSTEA (Aix en Provence, France) from 2012 to 2013. IRSTEA, formerly known as CEMAGREF, is a respected lab renowned for testing and developing irrigation equipment. During my time at IRSTEA, I focused on research related to the clogging of drippers and gained significant experience in irrigation testing and research. I have eight years of experience as a Research Technician at the Irrigation Testing Laboratory of ESALQ/USP (2010 ? 2018), which was accredited by ISO 17025 from 2011 to 2017. From 2011 to 2014, I served as the Quality Manager and was responsible for overseeing the laboratory's quality management system, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025 and other technical standards. From 2014 to 2017, I held the positions of Technical and Quality Manager for the same laboratory. I was responsible for overseeing all the laboratory's technical operations, managing the laboratory staff (including students), and ensuring the laboratory's testing procedures and protocols met the technical standards. In this role, I also managed relations with customers (i.e., irrigation industries). In my time as a Research Technician, I completed the following courses related to ISO 17025: a course on ISO 17025 and another on Measurement Uncertainty for Agriculture in 2010; and an ISO 17025 Auditor training course in 2014. Since 2018, I have been Professor at College of Agricultural Engineering, State University of Campinas (FEAGRI/UNICAMP). In 2023, I was promoted to the position of Associate Professor, where I specialize in Hydraulics and Irrigation. Since 2019, I have held the position of Chairman of the Committee of Studies in Equipment and Systems of Irrigation and Drainage - ABNT (ABNT/CE-203:018.001 ? mirror committee of ISO TC23 SC18). Throughout my career, I have made contributions to the field of Irrigation Engineering through scientific publications and research projects. I have published 54 peer-reviewed scientific papers in renowned journals, covering topics related to Irrigation Engineering, hydraulics of pressurized irrigation systems, clogging and filtration processes for microirrigation, and instrumentation/automation applied to agricultural processes. In addition, I am co-author of a textbook related to design and operation of center pivots, which is used as a reference book for irrigation professionals and students at Brazil. I have produced over 50 technical reports on irrigation testing equipment for industries, demonstrating my expertise in irrigation equipment testing and development. Overall, my research achievements reflect my commitment to advancing the field of Irrigation Engineering and to providing solutions for the industry.
