Rodrigo Paidano Alves

Atualmente, sou aluno do Programa de Doutorado em Ciências Naturais da Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) na Áustria, onde também trabalho como pesquisador assistente na Karl-Franzens University Graz (Uni-Graz). Sou Mestre em Ciências Biológicas (2016-2018) e Bacharel em Ciências Biológicas (2011-2015) pela Universidade Federal do Pampa (Unipampa) no Brasil. Minha pesquisa se concentra em responder a perguntas sobre os efeitos das mudanças climáticas nos ambientes terrestres. Ao longo dos anos, trabalhei com comunidades de vegetação na Antártida, pois tive a oportunidade de participar de três expedições polares à Antártica. Nesse contexto, estou listado como colaborador voluntário do grupo de pesquisa NEVA (Núcleo de Estudos de Plantas Antárticas) da Unipampa. Também fui membro do conselho da International APECS (Association of Polar Early Career Scientists, https://www.apecs.is/), representei a APECS-Brasil (Comitê Brasileiro da APECS) em reuniões internacionais e fui colíder do Alpine Cryosphere Group da APECS. Depois de obter meu mestrado, trabalhei como assistente de pesquisa no Amazon Tall Tower Observatory (https://www.attoproject.org/), e nesse contexto tive a chance de aprender mais sobre os processos ambientais em uma floresta tropical. Currently, I am a student in the Doctoral Programme in Natural Sciences at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) in Austria, where I also work as an assistant researcher at Karl-Franzens University Graz (Uni-Graz). I hold a Master's degree in Biological Sciences (2016-2018) and a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (2011-2015) from the Federal University of Pampa (Unipampa) in Brazil. My research focuses on answering questions about the climate change effects on terrestrial environments. Along the years, I have worked with vegetation communities in Antarctica, as I had the opportunity to participate in three Polar Antarctic expeditions. In that context, I am listed as a volunteer collaborator in the NEVA research group (Antarctic Plants Studies Core) at the Unipampa. I was also a board member of the International APECS (Association of Polar Early Career Scientists, https://www.apecs.is/), I represented APECS-Brazil (Brazilian Committee of APECS) at international meetings, and I was co-leader of the Alpine Cryosphere Group of APECS. After obtaining my Master degree, I worked as a research assistant at the Amazon Tall Tower Observatory (https://www.attoproject.org/), and in that context had the chance to learn more about the environmental processes in a tropical forest.
