Magda Helena Dziubinska

Currently a Junior Researcher in the Laboratoire d?Ethnologie et de Sociologie Comparative of the University Paris Nanterre (France). I have carried out long-term fieldwork (21 months in total between 2009 to 2016) with the Kakataibo and the Shipibo people in Peruvian Amazon. My doctoral thesis (2014) focuses on asymmetrical relationships in the lowland of South America with particular interest in the position of magnified subordination. More recently my research interests centre around gender, beauty, corporeality and performance. I explore the Amerindian beauty contests and its connections with power relations, new forms of subjectivation, processes of cultural revalorization and gender construction.
