Prof. Dr. Getulio Teixeira Batista

He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (1970), Masters in Remote Sensing by National Institute for Space Research (1974) and Ph.D. in Agronomy / Remote Sensing - Purdue University (1981). He is currently Visiting Professor at the University of Taubaté. Has experience in the area of Forest Resources, with emphasis on Watershed Conservation, acting in the following topics: remote sensing, agronomy, GIS, environmental sciences and vegetation indices. He was Principal Investigator of the International Earth Observing System Program EOS (NASA - Goddard Space Flight Center), where he worked from 1990 to 1992. Until July, 2008 he was member of the Advisory Committee of Forest Resources of CNPq for five years. He is the Founder and Editor of Revista Ambiente & Água - an Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Science (http://dx.doi.org/10.4136/1980-993X) that in 2013 was classified at level B1 in Qualis CAPES, and was accepted in the SciELO BR and SCOPUS collections. He is also the Editor of Electronic Repository of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Taubaté (http://www.agro.unitau.br/dspace) and Founder of the Institute for Environmental Research in Hydrographic Basins, IPABHi: http://www.ipabhi.org. He coordinated the First and the Second Seminars on Water Resources of the Paraíba do Sul Basin (SERHIDRO PS-2007 and PS-2009 SERHIDRO - http://www.ipabhi.org/serhidro/) with support from CNPq, CAPES and FAPESP. He is a member of the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC) and was from 1992 to 2016 fellow of CNPq PQ. He has published 98 articles in peer reviewed journals and 15 books/book chapters until 8/28/2014.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Agronômica pela Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (1970), mestrado em Sensoriamento Remoto pelo Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (1974) e doutorado em Agronomia / Sensoriamento Remoto - Purdue University (1981). Atualmente é Professor Voluntário na Universidade de Taubaté. Tem experiência na área de Recursos Florestais e Engenharia Florestal, com ênfase em Conservação de Bacias Hidrográficas, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: sensoriamento remoto, agronomia, geoprocessamento, ciências ambientais e índices de vegetação. Foi pesquisador Principal do Programa Internacional EOS (Earth Observing System) da NASA (Goddard Space Flight Center), onde trabalhou de 1990 a 1992. Foi até julho de 2008 membro do Comitê Assessor Recursos Florestais do CNPq por cinco anos, é Fundador e tem sido o Editor Chefe da Revista Ambiente e Agua - An Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Science (http://dx.doi.org/10.4136/1980-993X) até 30 de setembo de 2017, atalmente é Editor Associado da Revista que em 2013 conquistou o nível B1 no Qualis CAPES, ingresso nas coleções SciELO BR e SCOPUS. Foi o Editor do Repositório Eletrônico Ciências Agrárias da Universidade de Taubaté (http://www.agro.unitau.br/dspace) e Fundador do Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais em Bacias Hidrográficas (IPABHi) http://(www.ipabhi.org. Coordenou o Primeiro e o Segundo Seminário de Recursos Hídricos da Bacia Hidrográfica do Paraíba do Sul (SERHIDRO-PS 2007 e SERHIDRO-PS 2009 - http://www.ipabhi.org/serhidro/) com apoio do CNPq, CAPES e FAPESP. É membro da Associação Brasileira de Editores Científicos (ABEC) e foi bolsista PQ do CNPq continuamente de 1992 a 2016. Tem 99 artigos publicados em revistas científicas.
