Andrea Barretto Motoyama

holds a Bs degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasilia, Brazil (1997) and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Basel, Switzerland (2002). The focus of her thesis was the study of the signal transduction pathways involved in the resistance to anti-tumor target-directed therapy, such as trastuzumab. She has been a post-doctoral fellow in The Scripps Research Institute, in La Jolla, California, USA, where she worked in sequence-specific RNA decay; and in The Burnham Institute for Medical Research, where she investigated the role of intracellular molecules involved in cell adhesion, as well as in Rho GTPases activation. Since 2007 she is an assistant professor in the University of Brasilia, Brazil. She has experience in Cell and Molecular Biology, conducting research on the following subjects: oral and breast cancer, leukemia, molecular biomarkers, cytotoxic activity of lead compounds.

possui Bacharelado em Ciencias Biológicas pela Universidade de Brasília (1997) e doutorado em Bioquímica pela Universidade da Basiléia (Universitat Basel - 2002), Suiça. O foco de seu doutorado foi a investigacao de vias de transducao de sinal capazes de conferir resistencia, a nivel celular, a medicamentos antineoplasicos alvo-dirigidos, como o trastuzumabe. Realizou 2 pos-doutorados, sendo o primeiro no The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla), trabalhando com estabilidade de RNAs e no The Burnham Institute for Medical Research (La Jolla), trabalhando com proteinas de adesao, sobretudo as que ativam pequenas GTPases da familia Rho. Atualmente é professora adjunta da Universidade de Brasília. Tem experiência na área de Biologia Celular, com ênfase nas áres de: Bioquímica, Biologia Molecular e Oncologia.
