He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics (1996), a Master's Degree in Physics (1998), a PhD in Physics (2003) and a Post-Doctorate (2003) at the Physics Institute of the University of São Paulo (IF-USP). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), working at the Center for Natural and Human Sciences (CCNH) and Adjunct Pro-Rector of Research at UFABC and vice-coordinator of the Nanomedicine Research Unit (NANOMED). He was the Physicist responsible for the X-ray Powder Diffraction beamline (D10B-XPD) of the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) from 2003 to 2009. He has experience in Physics, with emphasis on Structure of Liquids and Solids; Crystallography, and Optical and Spectroscopic Properties of Condensed Matter, working mainly on the following topics: structural characterization of materials with the use of powder X-ray diffraction and the Rietveld method (pharmaceutical inputs, magnetic nanoparticles, materials with negative thermal expansion, solid-state fuel cells, intercalation materials, among others), structural determination, synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles with potential application in biomedicine. He is a member of the Technical Subcommittee on Organics and Drugs of the International Center for Diffraction Data (ICDD), member of the Powder Diffraction Commission of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr), member of the Board of the Brazilian Crystallographic Association (ABCr), the American Crystallographic Association (ACA), the Brazilian Physics Society (SBF), the Brazilian Materials Research Society (SBPMat). Atualmente é Professor Associado da Universidade Federal do (UFABC), lotado no Centro de Ciências Naturais e Humanas (CCNH), Pró-Reitor Adjunto de Pesquisa da UFABC e membro do Conselho Diretivo do Núcleo de Nanomedicina (NANOMED) da UFABC. Foi vice-coordenador do Núcleo de Nanomedicina (NANOMED) de 11/2018 a 08/2022. Foi o Físico responsável pela Linha de Difração de Raios X em Policristais (D10B-XPD) do Laboratório Nacional de Luz Síncrotron (LNLS) de 2003 a 2009. Tem experiência na área de Física, com ênfase em Estrutura de Líquidos e Sólidos; Cristalografia, e em Propriedades Ópticas e Espectroscópicas da Matéria Condensada, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: caracterização estrutural de materiais com o uso da difração de raios X por policristais e do método de Rietveld (insumos farmacêuticos, nanopartículas magnéticas, materiais com expansão térmica negativa, células a combustível de estado sólido, materiais de intercalação, dentre outros), determinação estrutural, síntese e caracterização de nanopartículas magnéticas com potencial aplicação em biomedicina.
