Claudia de Lima Costa is full professor of literary theory at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, where she teaches courses on feminist theories, cultural studies and post-colonialism. She graduated in Philosophy and Communication Theories - Michigan State University (1985); has an MA in Communication Theories - Michigan State University (1987); and a PhD in Cultural Studies - University of Illinois at Urbana (1998). She was a Visiting Professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz (USA) and at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (USA), where she taught courses in their departments of Feminist Studies (UCSC) and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies (UMass). She was vice president and president of the Culture, Politics and Power section of the Latin American Studies Association(LASA). She was(is) also a member of various other committees of LASA and of the GT Mulher e Literatura. She co-organized the book "Translocalities / translocality: Feminist Politics of Translation in the Latin/a Americas" (Duke University Press, 2014), and "Traduções da cultura: Perspectivas críticas feministas (1970-2010) (Editora Mulheres; Editora UFSC; Edufal, 2017). Her current research focus on the intersection between feminist theories, cultural translation and post-colonial and decolonial theories in the Americas.
É titular de teoria literária na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Possui graduação em Filosofia e Teorias da Comunicação - Michigan State University (1985), mestrado em Teorias da Comunicação - Michigan State University (1987) e doutorado em Cultural Studies - University of Illinois em Urbana (1998). Foi professora visitante na University of California, Santa Cruz (EUA) e na University of Massachusetts, Amherst (EUA), onde lecionou disciplinas nos respectivos departamentos de Feminist Studies e Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Realizou pós-doutoramento na University of California, Santa Cruz e na University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Foi vice-presidente e presidente da seção Cultura, Política e Poder da Associação de Estudos Latino-Americanos (LASA), na qual também exerceu várias outras atividades em comitês julgadores específicos. Co-organizou o livro "Translocalities / Translocalidades: Feminist Politics of Translation in the Latin/a Américas" (Duke University Press, 2014) e a antologia "Traduções da cultura: perspectivas críticas feministas (1970-2010)" (Editora Mulheres; Editora UFSC; Edufal, 2017). Atualmente é bolsista de produtividade em pesquisa do CNPq e atua na área de Letras, com ênfase na interseção entre as teorias feministas, traducão cultural e as teorias pós-coloniais e descoloniais nas Américas
