Vera Cristina Santos e Silva de Athayde

From Pernambuco, Vera Cris holds a Ph.D. in Theater Practice from the University of São Paulo (2021), a Master in Performing Arts from the State University of Campinas (2010), and graduated in Architecture from the State University of Pernambuco (1986). Currently, she coordinates the Brazilian Culture Reference Center and the Center for Research and Creation of Brazilian Costumes and Clothing at the Ponto de Cultura da Oca Escola Cultural (1999-2021).Member of the Interinstitutional Group Body and Ancestry in the Graduate Program at UFBA/UNICAMP/USP under the theme ?Rituals and Languages: aesthetic elaboration?. She taught at Universidade Anhembi-Morumbi (SP) in the graduation courses in Brazilian dance and music (2010-2012). Vera Cris coordinates the Dagbá Ijó group (2015-2021), developing research and practices based on Brazilian cultural matrices, mediation, and production of events, seminars, and lectures, specifically with Brazilian black culture. She is a member of the board of directors of the Forum for Popular and Traditional Cultures in the São Paulo network (2011-2021). Works in the Latin American Network of Community Living Culture; and in three consecutive editions (2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019) she has participated in the International Congresses of Community Living Culture in the following countries: Bolivia, El Salvador, Ecuador and Argentina. In addition, she developed an exchange with the African Cultural Center Fernando Ortiz in the cities of Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo, in 2017, a foundation for artistic and cultural research based on the Afro-Cuban legacy. Finally, she has experience in dance and theater, research in popular and traditional culture territories, artistic pedagogy, spectacle, staging, costumes and photography.

Pernambucana, Vera Cris é doutora em Prática do Teatro pela Universidade de São Paulo (2021); mestre em Artes da Cena pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2010) e graduada em Arquitetura pela Universidade Estadual de Pernambuco (1986). Atualmente, coordena o Centro de Referência da Cultura Brasileira e do Núcleo de Pesquisa e Criação do Figurino e Indumentária Brasileira no Ponto de Cultura da Oca Escola Cultural (1999-2021). Membro do Grupo Interinstitucional Corpo e Ancestralidade no Programa de Pós-graduação da UFBA/UNICAMP/USP, sob a temática ?Rituais e Linguagens: elaboração estética?. Lecionou na Universidade Anhembi-Morumbi (SP) nos cursos de graduação em dança e música brasileira (2010-2012). Ocupa a coordenação do grupo Dagbá Ijó (2015-2021), que desenvolve pesquisas e práticas pautadas nas matrizes culturais brasileiras, mediações e produção de eventos, seminários e palestras, especificamente com a cultura negra brasileira. É membro da diretoria do Fórum para as Culturas Populares e Tradicionais na rede paulista (2011-2021). Atua na Rede Latino-americana de Cultura Viva Comunitária; e em três edições consecutivas (2013, 2015, 2017 e 2019) atuou nos Congressos Internacionais de Cultura Viva Comunitária nos seguintes países: Bolívia, El Salvador, Equador e Argentina. Além disso, desenvolveu intercâmbio com o Centro Cultural Africano Fernando Ortiz nas cidades de Santiago de Cuba e Guantánamo, em 2017, alicerces para a investigação artística e cultural pautadas no legado afro-cubano. Para finalizar, tem experiência na área de dança e teatro, pesquisa em territórios da cultura popular e tradicional, pedagogia artística, espetáculo, encenação, figurino e fotografia.
